Little Rock Zoo
1 Zoo Drive ,
Little Rock,
Arkansas 72205
"Great zoo, pricey outing!"
We went with our 2 year old and 1 year old during the Summer and the heat was killer! Our 2 year old did not seem bothered at all by the heat, but be sure to bring lots of water to drink. The animal exhibits and variety were very nice...all the basics that children love to see were there and then some. There is plenty of shade to rest in as well as vendors who are over-priced. We decided to splurge and eat at Cafe Africa (by the elephants) and it was great to be able to sit in an air conditioned room to cool off. The prices were terrible and the portions not very generous, but again, our children weren't worried about that part! Parking costs $2 for each vehicle belonging to anyone who isn't a member of the zoo. Overall, it made for good family memories!

Louisiana Arts and Science Museum
100 River Road S.,
Baton Rouge,
Louisiana 70802
"Fun for Children"
This museum in downtown Baton Rouge is located on the Mississippi River and is great place to take children to play. There are 2 playrooms, one for school-age children to see/play with science, and another for babies/toddlers. In addition, there is a mummy exhibit that even our 3 year old was interested in seeing, and a fantastic planetarium. Planetarium shows are additional fees and the only showing that allows children under 3 years is the 10 am each day. The shows are fabulous and enjoyable for everyone! Metered parking is available in front of the museum and be sure to picnic on the levee!

Global Wildlife Center

Folsom,
Louisiana
"Fantabulous!!!"
This trip out to the middle of no-where is definitely worth it!! Children and adults of all ages will love the wagon ride tour to see and feed all the wildlife! Each person on the tour gets a cup full of animal feed and at certain stops is able to feed the animals right out of his/her cup. Animals that you can see include giraffes, zebras, cows, elephants, and much more! There are also areas available to eat a picnic lunch (away from the animals of course).

Historic Nauvoo
Highway 96,
Nauvoo,
Illinois 62354
"Wonderful for Families"
This historic city is a great spot for wholesome family fun. It is packed full of history and most of the sites available for touring are free! During the summer, there is a huge production, the Nauvoo Pageant, that is full of singing and dancing and tells of the history of the people who settled there. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, because there is lots to see!

Cafe du Monde | kids travel, kids activities
Cafe du Monde
800 Decatur Street,
New Orleans,
Louisiana
"A Definite MUST!!"
Cafe du Monde is a HOT SPOT in the French Quarter of New Orleans! I would highly recommend that you NOT MISS OUT on tasting the wonderful beignets and hot chocolate served there. Like most of the other restaurants in the area, the cafe is outdoor, which makes it chilly in the winter, but part of the experience! For anyone who hasn't experienced the bliss of beignets, it is a donut-like treat covered in powered sugar that will win the heart of the whole family!
