Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

"Always a favorite"
The Nelson-Atkins Art Museum is always a favorite of mine. They have a fantastic display on ancient Egypt. My daughter (6 yrs old) loves all things Egyptian and really wanted to see this exhibit. We had a fabulous time and she was enthralled with the mummy artifacts. The art was a little over my littler children's attention level, but the mummies were very entertaining!

"Very neat building"
This is an awesome building that recently received a complete makeover. It has several attractions inside that are a lot of fun for children. There is a dinosaur walk, a science museum and a restaurant, for starters. My kids were amazed at the tall ceilings and enjoyed just walking around inside. I enjoyed the trip and am glad that the building was saved instead of razed.

Niabi Zoo | kids travel, kids activities
Niabi Zoo
13010 Niabi Zoo Road,
Coal Valley,
Illinois 61240
"Very small zoo"
This zoo is OK for small kids and short trips. It is very tiny and there aren't a lot of animals to see. They are supposed to be building a new elephant housing area soon and getting a new elephant and they are also working on a giraffe feeding platform. Those two additions will make it a better destination, but for now, just know that you won't spend a lot of time there and your older kids may get bored.

"Antoher great family trip"
Yet another Family Fun Fest was to the Balloon Festival. We all had a fantastic time at the balloon glow. It was amazing to see tons and tons of huge balloons up close. As the sun set and they all lit up, we were in awe. We also enjoyed the morning race where they each tried to land on a specific site. The kids and grown-ups really enjoyed this trip.

"Kid's had a blast!"
Another Family Fun Fest was at Adventureland. We had 6 kids ranging in ages from 8-2. They all had a great time despite the heat. There were also 9 adults and they all had a good time too. My 4 year old son said his favorite rides were the rock hopper, the bumper cars, and the tea cups. He wishes he could live at Adventureland! Even our two year old had good time and no one griped about the August heat.
