Hearst San Simeon State Historic Monument (Hearst Castle) | kids travel, kids activities
Hearst San Simeon State Historic Monument (Hearst Castle)

"Hated it."
We went to Hearst Castle as part of a wine tasting weekend. We we got there we had to wait in a long line to catch a bus to go see the castle. When we got to the front of the line they said that they do not allow strollers and we had to rent a backpack from them. The busride to the castle was pretty. When we got to the castle we were in a really structured tour. You could only see what your tour was for and if you wanted to see anything else that meant riding the bus back down the hill and paying another 15 dollars. We even hated the tour. Hearing about a power hungry man who liked to just throw away money to have people like him. Even in his death CA has taken on his legacy with charging people out the yang to see this guys stuff. This place also was not very kid friendly. Long waits to see rooms and you can't touch anything.

Lake Isabella KOA
15627 Highway 178,
Weldon,
California 93283
"Great Camping for Non-Campers"
We stayed the night at the KOA in Lake Isabealla and it was more like staying at a park than camping. The campgrounds have full rv hook ups, small cabins, and tent camping. There are bath houses for tent campers. This campground was full of life and there were kids everywhere. They have a heated pool, a kid water play area, bean bag races, a movie outside at night, and free pankake breakfast on Sunday Mornings. There is also a fully stocked store incase you forget anything that is attached to a small bar. The only downsides I found was there were horrible mosquitos when it got dark.
