Space Center Houston
1601 NASA Pkwy,
Houston,
Texas 77058
We visited here during spring break. There are a bunch of activities for all ages, kid maze play structure for the little ones, interactive exhibits, etc.
Our favorite was the tram tour that took you onto the grounds of Johnson Space Center, next door. We got a commentary of all the different buildings and we actually got to go into the viewing area of the real Mission Control room. There was a longtime employee that talked about NASA, the shuttles, the astronauts (many of which were/are his personal friends), and the work that is done specifically from that room.
It was VERY interesting and we all really enjoyed it.
The only bummer was the cafe, the lunch options were typically overpriced and not very good at all, and there weren't many healthy choices at all.
Overall, it was an enjoyable family outing

"Great little hotel for families"
We stayed here for one night in mid March for Spring Break. We had one of the suites. One queen bed in a bedroom and then a separate foldout couch/bed in the living area. Also had a separate little wet bar/counter area with small fridge and microwave.
It was very spacious for our family of 4. The linens in the foldout bed were not clean but housekeeping quickly changed them out once we called. Everything else was clean. We were right next to the pool/jacuzzi area which was pretty loud since many families were also on Spring break, but the pool closed at 11pm and was fine after that.
Great little hotel, we would stay here again. They offer free continental breakfast, which was nice.

"Interesting and nice driving tour in the beautiful Hill Country"
We stopped here just as a way to stretch our legs on the way to Fredericksburg and we are glad we did!
It's a very pretty park (early March, so I'm sure it's much prettier in late spring and summer). We took the free driving tour (audio CD that they provide you) and really enjoyed the little tour of the old home and the drive along the Pedernales River where LBJ was born, raised and now rests.
There is also a home called the Texas White House that you can tour for $2/person.
It was a very enjoyable little diversion for our family.

"Somewhat interesting for adults.."
We were visiting the UT campus so we went in here to see what it was. It is free admission, there are some interesting parts - there is an actual recreation of the Oval Office, with the actual furniture used by LBJ.
Not much at all for kids, my 12 year old was mildly interested, but the 3 year old wanted out as soon as we walked in.

"Probably so much better once flowers have bloomed.."
We visited on our way to Fredericksburg in mid March, unfortunately we were too early to see any wildflowers blooming.
It was a cold and rainy day, but I did see that they had a nice area for plants, garden items. They also have a beer and wine tasting area as well as a little cafe with snacks. The majority of it seemed like a giant gift shop to me, but in all fairness with cold weather and no blooming flowers, that's really all I saw.
There is a little section near the back called the Butterfly Haus, It was $5 per person (adult), and it was also outdoor, so we skipped it since we were freezing.
Like I said, this place is probably fabulous in warmer weather, unfortunately we didn't think much of it.
