Bonaventure Cemetery

This is a great place for older kids to explore. The graves are very old and you can feel the history as you walk around. I don't recommend taking younger kiddos...the grounds are very uneven and they won't find much of it interesting. Take a camera and go on a grave hunt! We found old, old, old graves that really made for some great shots and also different fonts to take individual letter pics.

Historic River Street | kids travel, kids activities
Historic River Street

River Street is a great place for casual walking. Be forewarned....River Street at night is NOT kid friendly. We went in February, so walking by the river was a bit chilly. There's great pop-in stores, some touristy, some unique to Savannah. The food along River Street is great.... I always recommend the seafood, of course!

Yummmmmmmmm! We loved the Candy Kitchen and could have spent hours there, looking through the different candies. The staff was friendly and they have so many yummy treats, both handmade and nostalgic! You've GOT to try the homemade pecan pralines, they're to DIE for! Be careful with overfeeding kiddos....this place is their heaven!!

The Lady and Son's

This restaurant is good, if you like home cookin' and enjoy WAITING. The line can be ridiculously long, and I've seen this happen at many times throughout the day. Plan on waiting a couple of hours...or better yet, find a stand-in and shop while THEY wait!

The food is good, about what you'd expect from Paula. It's very busy, so be prepared if you have little ones.

Savannah Horse Carriage Tours

Our tour was in February, so it was a little cold. What a great way to tour parts of the beautiful city without having to walk! Our "driver" was very friendly and knowledgeable. The horse and carriage tours and great if you want a more low-key tour and enjoy the peacefulness of the city, especially at night.
