Downtown Aquarium

"great aquarium for inland state"
I've been to several aquarium in my time and this one is by far my favorite. It is clean, bright, well maintained and more interactive than any aquarium I've been to on the east coast. It is pricey, but this is an attraction Denver can be proud of. Oh, the restaurant is a MUST. It's expensive because it's inside the aquarium, but it really is a beautiful place to relax and dine.

Children's Museum of Denver
2121 Children's Museum Drive,
Denver,
Colorado 80211
When my children were younger we had a membership and really enjoyed going several times a month. The exhibit rooms have been around for a while and have some wear and tear but I believe the first Tuesday of each month is free after 4 pm. Call for details. ( Target Tuesday)

Lakeside Amusement Park

"free passes from most library summer reading programs"
We have made Lakeside an annual tradition. My children earn free passes every year from our local library reading program. My husband and I keep our eyes open for mailer coupons that get us both in for $18....for $18 any family of five can overlook the rundown feel of this park. It actually reminds me of my childhood....neat throwback, retro kind of feel.

Apex Center
13150 W 72nd Ave ,
Arvada,
Colorado 80005
The Apex Center is a great way to spend a rainy day with the family. The admission price is reasonable and there is something to do for everyone. We especially love the swimming pool. My favorite part of an Apex Center visit is the free indoor playground....you don't even need to pay admission...so next rainy day, pack up your toddler/preschooler and meet me there!

Casa Bonita Restaurant
6715 W Colfax,
Lakewood,
Colorado
"every child should experience this"
Our family loves Casa Bonita. All the previous reviews are accurate as this place seems somewhat legendary in America. We have friends travel from all over the US to visit us...and Casa Bonita. The food couldn't get any worse...and that is the God honest truth. You have no choice, the meal is mandatory for entrance, just think of it as an admission fee and eat when you get home.
