"Yummy and fun!"
I am a big fan of getting my children to know where food comes from, so going to Berry Patch Farms is perfect. They get to pick as many berries as they want and get to ride out to the fields on a trailer. They have more than berries there too.....all you pay for is what you pick. What a deal!

"Beautiful! "
I LOVE Bear Lake. It is stunning. I like taking my kids here because the walk around the whole lake is about the right distance for them. They can walk the whole thing without too much whining that it's too far. You can usually park right by the lake, but if you have to take the shuttle bus it's not a problem. They run really regularly and I find this has been a highlight for the kids. Catching the bus is a novelty for them and not being in a car seat becomes very adventurous! I enjoy packing a lunch and eating it up here. The only disadvantage that I can see is that it does get busy.....if your kids are old enough to snow shoe Bear Lake is a really fun destination.

"My kids were crying to leave this place"
Granted, we had spent a while in the car getting to this place, but it wasn't very interesting for kids. I would love to go back without the kids because it is stunningly beautiful, but for little ones, that wasn't compelling enough. Add that to the fact that this is indeed a canyon and me, being the anxious mother, was tightly gripping their hands in fears that they might get too close to the edge. I did appreciate the visitors center where my son completed his little work book and got a junior ranger badge. He liked that.

Twenty Ninth Street Mall

"Whoever designed this place does not have kids"
The thing I dislike the most about the 29th St mall is that it is really hard to push a stroller around. I have found a number of times that I will be walking down the sidewalk and end up at the top (or bottom) of a bunch of steps which forces me to turn around and find the accessible way down. It gets annoying after a while. They did put a kids play area next to Starbucks (convenient!) which is fun and they finally had the sense to put a shade over it during the summer when it gets to hot to play on. There are also a number of other exhibits throughout the mall but they are all wonderfully compelling for small children to climb on and they all have a sign saying "no climbing". Try telling your energetic 4 year old that the fun looking planets are just to LOOK at....it doesn't go down well. So, thumbs down for family friendliness at the 29th St mall.

"Unexpected kids play area"
I had passed by this place in Breckenridge a number of times and never took my kids in there because I thought they would be so bored by a museum, but one day when it was pouring with rain we took shelter inside and found a whole upstairs area with some really cute things for the kids to play with. There was dress up stuff, an old telephone and old weights......surprisingly fun, and we were able to while away the 45 minutes until the rain stopped and had fun at the same time. It's worth a visit.
