Old Mine Ranch
17504 Mine Road,
Dumfries,
Virginia 22026
"Cute Place, Nice People"
We celebrated my daughter's 6th birthday at Old Mine Ranch. It's a farm atmosphere (nothing fancy!) with a petting zoo, pony rides, hayride, "train", moonbounce, swingset, slides, and gift shop. We reserved a pavilion that included picnic tables and was perfect for a little birthday celebration. A great, very reasonably-priced choice for us. The young woman who I worked with was fantastic. I look forward to going back!

Cox Farms
15621 Braddock Road,
Centreville,
Virginia 20120
Our family visited Cox Farms during their fall festival last year and had a blast. My five year old daughter enjoyed the slides/other kids activities and we all enjoyed the hayride (infant son even had a good time). There were farm animals to pet and I even got to try milking a cow! Some junk food, apple cider and a little pumpkin to take home topped the day off just right. We'll probably go back this year.

Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk and Boating
Rehoboth Beach,
Rehoboth Beach,
Delaware 19971
My family visited Rehoboth Beach several years ago. We made it a day trip from Maryland (DC-metro area). It was a great opportunity to spend the day on the beach, do a little shopping at some cute shops and have dinner on the boardwalk. I'm sure we'll do it again as our youngest gets a little older.

Smithsonian American Art Museum

"Another Wonderful Museum"
The Smithsonian American Art Museum is a beautiful DC museum. It is part of the Reynold's Center which includes the American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery. Not only is the artwork amazing and a pleasure to admire, but so is the building architecture. You will be glad you visited!

Smithsonian Folklife Festival
National Mall,
Washington,
District of Columbia
I've attended this free festival several times and would recommend it to anyone. If you like to try different foods - there's ample opportunity at this event. Every time I've gone I've tried some new cuisine and enjoyed great performances. You should add this event to your calendar if you're in the DC area when it takes place.
