About Me & My Family

We are a family of 4 with two sons age 4 & 6 (2010). We love to explore places that are fun yet economical. My children love the outdoors, we are always looking for new playgrounds or parks to explore. They also love the thrill of amusements parks and live theater & musicals. My husband and I work full time so we make the most of our weekends with the boys!
Our Family's Travel Personality
adventurous, curious, simple, energetic, spontaneous
We Just Got Back From
A local hotel stay with relatives.....enjoyed the pool in the winter!
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Long Beach Island, New Jersey
A Place We'd Love To Visit
Disney World! I used to work there! We are working our way there!
Favorite Vacation Memory
Kids enjoying the ocean/beach! I love staying near a beach, since we are 6-8 hours away from the ocean. It's such a simple pleasure and it really can be enjoyed by everyone. My kids could play for hours at the beach, digging in the sand, chasing waves, going for walks! I'm missing it just talking about it!
Worst Travel Moment With My Kids:
Outer banks (wonderful vacation memory and spot) However, one child was 18mos when I was pregnant and had a fever of 104 that wouldn't break while we were 1/2 way to North Carolina. After we finally arrived and he was still feverish we visited The Outer Banks Urgent Care Center and they treated us wonderfully, with xrays, blood test, everything to comfort us and rule everything! IT was such a nice surprise. He has a "near pneumonia" but was fine in a few days!

"Family Fun on the farm"
This is so much fun in the fall. We look forward to it every year and wish it was open in the summer. There are activities for toddlers, school agers or teens/adults. They have a "beeline" (zipline on a disc swing) So Fun. Corn maize with educational spots, slides and activities along the way. Pumpkin sling shots, trikes for kids or adults, cornkernels, rather than sandbox, baby chicks, chickens, piglet, goats, rabbits, cows, wagon rides for fun or out to the pumpkin patch. Also the food area is pretty extensive, cider, donuts(made right there! yum) grill food, chili, cookies, something for everyone. It's big enough that you should plan approx. 3 hours. At Xmas time they have limited activities but when we were there this year they had reindeer, santa, all size/price trees, pre-cut or cut your own. Very nice gift shop too. We can't say enough good things about this place and anyone who we've recommended it too has loved it too! They also do field trips and birthday parties! A must see for Rochester area families!

"Lots to do for summer fun!"
Although it's pricey, we watch for discount passes and make a great trip there each summer. My kids were 3 and 5 on our last visit and we enjoyed some indoor shows, the kiddie ride section and the water park! We bring a cooler and leave it in the car...eat right before going in and snack when we reach the car. We also pay for preferred parking to save on walking for the little ones. There is lots of room for safe water play for little ones, but my older one needed to be in a deeper area...Wave pool was shallow enough too, but you really have to be nearby. A great way to cool down is to enjoy an indoor air conditioned show (free). We saw an acrobatic circus type stage show. Lots of walking so bring a stroller, or rent one!

"Great pitstop on our roadtrips!"
We accidentally stumbled across this on our way home from a summer vacation. What a find! My 4 yr old son and I were awake, yet the 2 yr old and hubby were passed out so we took advantage and had a wonderful time! The next time we traveled near there we made a point to take the whole family(+gramma!) Mambas, cobras, pythons and many other rare and beautiful snakes; alligators, crocodiles, giant tortoises and various species of lizards, turtles and frogs. They also have a butterfly garden which is new and a nice gift shop with all price ranges of gift, so you can get out of there with $ still in your pocket. It is really like a mini-zoo for reptiles! Very high end aquariums and clean! Demonstrations that are exciting and educational. Watch the animals eat, see the giant tortoises close up! We will continue to visit here whenever in the area!

"Great Amusement Park"
This is a fun day for younger kids. There is free admission but you buy tokens or "pay one price" for rides. Sign up for email since they offer special buy1 get 1 token specials early in the season. The rides accommodate 30" to Adult. There really is something for everyone. There is even a mini rollercoaster which I watched a child in a wheelchair be able to ride! How sweet! While we visited last summer there was a Reptile World presentation that we enjoyed so much we went back to watch it again on another evening. It was really interesting and they had lots of reptiles to show and discuss. The Giant Wheel was awesome at night to ride and see the island lit up. We stayed nearby in a house rental so we walked, even though parking is free it's limited and you may have to walk a short walk, but the traffic isn't that bad! Also they have an indoor arcade that you earn tickets for "purchase of merchandise" All skill levels of games available. Our boys are 4 and 6 and it was perfect for them. Mostly all families there, we didn't see many older unsupervised teens which was nice! 2 blocks from the beach and lots of gift shops nearby!
