About Me & My Family

I am a stay-at-home mom of 3 children (ages 8, 5, and 1) and our family does most of our travelling by car. We have family and friends scattered far and wide and like to visit them and also take in local attractions at the same time. We tend to be frugal by nature, but also like to save up for special events and vacations that the whole family enjoys.
Our Family's Travel Personality
simple, energetic, scheduled
A Place We'd Love To Visit
A Disney Cruise would be fun!
Favorite Vacation Memory
Many memories when we visited Disney last year.
Worst Travel Moment With My Kids:
Spilling my pop not once, but twice, while trying to navigate through the airport McDonalds with a stroller, diaper bag, and carry-on (plus my lunch of course!!) A gracious teenage girl helped me clean it up-both times!

"Beautiful"
This is a great outing on a beautiful spring or summer day. You will see so many flowering trees and shrubs. Walk past little streams and over bridges to go from one spectacular garden to another. Kids will enjoy the butterfly garden and will love exploring all the nooks and crannies (my daughter always seeks out her "secret spot" when we go!) At Christmas, you don't want to miss the luminaries. A truly enchanting experience to bundle up and see the gardens all lit up.

Old Cowtown Museum
1871 Sim Park Dr.,
Wichita,
Kansas 67203
"A little bit of history!"
Cowtown depicts life in the 1870's. It is neat to walk around and really see and feel how people lived at that time. The covered wagon ride is a highlight. Walking through the various houses and other buildings really gives a feel for how life was at that time. A great way to help kids learn about history while they think they are "just having fun"!

Douglas Avenue Sculptures

"An Unexpected Treasure"
Taking a walk down Douglas Avenue in downtown Wichita will prove to be a real treat when you discover the 31 bronze sculptures of everything from a small toy car (that kids can actually sit in) to the dimestore/soda fountain counter where you can sit on bronze replicas of bar stools!  Cows, small ducks, a small boy playing with a ball (this one incorporates a water feature!), and so many more.  An ordinary walk down an ordinary downtown street, takes on a whimsical and imaginative feel as families interact with these amazing works of art!

Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure
625 N. Hedville Road ,
Salina,
Kansas 67401
"Not your typical zoo!"
The Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure is just that...an adventure.  The zoo portion is home to some rare animals such as a white camel, Indian rhino and others.  The 60 acres of zoo is incredibly landscaped and beautiful.  Shade structures near many of the exhibits give visitors a nice break for the sun on a hot KS day!
THe museum portion covers seven different regions of animals.  Animatronic robots tell the stories of human existence within the balance of life in nature.  The sights and sounds are amazing and captivating!

Kansas Cosmosphere
1100 N. Plum St.,
Hutchinson,
Kansas 67501
"Older Elem. kids will love"
The Kansas Cosmosphere is home to  a collection of U.S. space artifacts that is second only to the Smithsonian Nat'l Air and Space Museum!  Families will be drawn into the various stages of space exploration.  A great lesson in the history of space craft through the ages.  Make sure to stop in at Dr. Goddard's Lab for a live demo. of early rocket technology which kids will really enjoy (adults too!).  There is also an IMAX theater and an amazing planetarium that will dazzle you!
