The Georgia Sea Turtle Center
214 Stable Rd,
Jekyll Island,
Georgia 31527
"Wonderful Family Experience"
Interactive exhibits like the "Live Like a Sea Turtle" experience, educational displays, the turtle hospital, and public education programs make this a fantastic venue for visiting families. Kids can enjoy summer programs, and take a nighttime walk to discover turtle nesting sites. The center offers Memberships and accepts donations to help offset operating costs, and families can "adopt" a rehabilitating turtle and follow it's progress online from diagnosis through treatment to release back to the ocean - even beyond, where they can track the turtle online as it travels through a GPS transponder attached to its shell. Jekyll Island Beaches
901 Downing Musgrove Causeway,
Jekyll Island,
Georgia
"Best Georgia Beaches for Family Adventure!"
Our family has been going to Jekyll Island for years. They have magical beaches perfect for families, flat and wide with kid-friendly waves. Wonderful place to introduce young ones to the ocean.
Try: flying kites on the beach; shell hunting; kid games with Mom and Dad; sand castle building; surf wrestling; dolphin sighting.
We've always thought Jekyll Island had plenty to do for young kids, maybe needs more for teens. Try Summer Waves Water Park; Tidelands Nature Center for kayaking, nature walks; the Georgia Sea Turtle Center; 4 golf courses and two mini-golf courses; 13 Har-tru tennis courts; lots of places to picnic, swim and explore.
