"So much to see!"
We just went here for the first time with the kids. They were in awe over the things there were to see! We arrived close to closing time, tho, so like another reviewer said, plan on it for a daytime trip. We arrived about 4 and a lot of the vendors were already closing up for the day. Be sure to visit the outdoor booths as well as the indoor; they are fantastic! The only suggestion I would make to those of you with families is hold on to your kids! The crowds can be rather unforgiving, and if you don't have your child firmly in your grip, they can slip away! LOL

"Would love to take the kids back!"
I went here before my oldest was born. My mom, sister and I visited, and we had a nice time. I would love to be able to take the kids, mostly so they can have that experience. When we went, there were TONS of families there, and it was the week after Christmas! A must visit place.
I have not taken my kids here, but when we went, there were a lot of families with children, so it appears to be quite family friendly. I know my children would enjoy the displays with the weapons and stories that are told there.
The grounds are beautiful, and we saw a lot of people taking pictures with the beautiful background.

"Much to do, any time of year"
We live about an hour and a half from Leavenworth, and we visit a couple times a year. It is fun to visit for the lighting festival, fun to visit during the summer, and there is always something for the kids to do as well as the adults. There are many shops, activities, places to visit, and even beautiful scenery!
Oftentimes, in the center of the village, they have kiddie inflatables set up: climbing, sliding, fun stuff. Kid and family friendly.
My children always like to go to the candy shoppes, and see all the neat hand made candy that you don't see in stores anymore.
I would recommend this to families, but if you have young children, consider strollers, because it can be a lot of walking.

"Great for campers"
We have been here many times, camping and hiking. It is a wonderful place to visit if you love that sort of outdoor activity. Clean, quiet, and some of the campsites can be primitive, but its really nice. You won't find things to do here, you MAKE things to do. There aren't toys to play on, but it is kid friendly....this is nature at its best.
My children love to go hiking, and exploring when we go here. They love to find "treasures" to bring home. the only thing my kids didn't like were the porta potties. Depending on the campground you go to, there may not be flushing ones, and some of the outhouses can be really disgusting.
I would recommend this to any family.

"FAV place of all time"
This is our FAVORITE vacation spot. Of all time. Really. I think we have been there 6 times? out of our 11 married years. We have taken family members there, just to share with them the amazing place. It is clean, and I don't need to worry about my kids being exposed to rude and vulgar language, etc. Great place. On the beach/boardwalk, there are playground toys (free) as well as an amusement park (costs), but you don't have to spend money to have fun. The kids LOVE the water, and the sand.
My children's favorite beach activity is the ocean. They can't get enough of swimming in the ocean here!
I would recommend that you plan to spend a couple days on the beach, but not all day. The kids can get quite tired after just a few hours of the sun and water.
