Lafayette Library and Learning Center

Lafayette,

"Something for EVERYONE!"
This is one of the best libraries I have ever been to. This is a newer completely updated library.
We are a family that loves reading. We also love how technology is in all the things we do today even libraries. This is such an amazing place for toddlers to go and have a place to have hands on experience with books and computers. They have there own section for kids with age appropriate books and computers that are for the use of kids only. Teens also can use the study rooms to do homework and study. Adults have a nice place to relax, work, and study with plenty of computers. There are also plenty of plug in spots for those who want to bring there own laptops.
This incredibly clean and beautiful library makes getting your family into reading easy. My 3 year old asks every week to visit this library and we often find ourselves here for an hour or more. They also have toddler story time every weeks along with other events through out the month. The staff if wonderful and very helpful. Cafe is a nice touch if you need to grab a tea/coffee or snack.
With its vast resources and comfortable seating areas, the relaxed ambiance of the Lafayette Library invites you to find a quiet place to investigate new ideas, or simply settle in with your laptop or that book you've been longing to read. A welcoming room that can accommodate gatherings of all sorts and sizes, the facility exceeds 30,000 square feet compared with the prior library's 6,720, and offers all this and more:
Ever-expanding collection of 75,000 books, periodicals and audiovisual materials
43 public computers, Technology Lab and wireless connection throughout
186 reader seats, including easy chairs, tables and lounges
Teen Center, Homework Center and 3 group study/meeting rooms
Spacious adult area with quiet corners for reading and studying
Separate Children's Area with kid-friendly shelves and "book nooks"
Amphitheater-style Story Corner and class space
ADA-compliant access
Outdoor meeting and reading areas
Fully automated, drive-thru book return and state-of-the-art book tracking system

Sonoma Plaza Park

"Beautiful Spacious Park!"
This is a beautiful park. The park is located in the middle of Sonoma Plaza. It is super spacious and the location of many fairs and music festivals throughout the year. The park has tons of shade and lots of grass. There are two play structures with plenty to do for kids. We stopped here for a picnic after we spent the morning at Train Town. It was the perfect end to a wonderful day in beautiful Sonoma. Surrounding the park are tons of historical Inns, restaurants, upscale shops, sweets & treats. It is a very nice and clean park in the middle of an amazing town.

Tilden Regional Park (Botanical Gardens)
Tilden Park,
Berkeley,
California 94702
I have a little explorer. My daughter is three and loves to walk on little paths and bridges to find herself in different places. This is such a cute activity for little ones that like being outdoors and like to explore. The gardens are little areas connected by paths and bridges that showcase different plants and flowers of different regions of California. It's really beautiful and fun. It's also very educational for us adults to see and learn about all the different plants and flowers in California. This activity is free. There are several other activities in Tilden Park including a merry go round, little farm, train, and beach. All activities require you to drive to the next location. Like Griffith Park in Los Angeles. In my opinion this is much nicer than Griffith Park.

Tilden Regional Park (Little Farm)
Tilden Park,
Berkeley,
California 94702
The Little Farm is part of the Tilden Regional Park. This is so worth the visit. My three year old had the best time feeding the cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, goat, and sheep. They allow you to bring celery and lettuce to feed all the animal except the rabbits. The animals are enclosed in fences that you can walk right up to and touch and feed them. The Little farm is just that little but still very worth the stop. Also after you feed the animals there is a large field of grass and a small play structure the kids can run and play and picnic at. We always visit several of the other activities in the Tilden Regional Park. (Botanical Garden, Merry go Round, train, beach) It makes for a great all day activity.

Sonoma Traintown

"Fun in a beautiful town."
This was a really fun activity for my daughter. I will say it's not much but it's clean, unique, and a perfect couple of hours for my 3 year old. Not only that but after you can spend some time in beautiful Sonoma.
Train town is a small amusement park...really small. There is a great train ride that that stops in a little "town" with a jail, school house, fire house, farm. With a lama, goats, and sheep you can feed for 25 cents a hand full of feed. Then you board back onto the train to go back to the station. $5 for a round trip ticket. Now this is not a super sophisticated train ride threw a country side. It's full of statue animals and small scale buildings. But even though us adults can see the flaws...the children do not! My daughter along with the other kids on the train where so animated and excited to see all the"animals" and the buildings. There are some tunnels and waterfalls that are always exciting for the kids too! The park supplies water and hand sanitizer for you for after you feed the animals.
There is also a carousel, airplane ride, and other spinning rides. I will say that the operators of the rides operate more than one ride. That might mean a little bit of a wait. I have been to other amusement parks that do the same so it wasn't something that bothered me. For 6 tickets $12.
The big train in front of Train Town is an old train that the kids can explore for free. Climbing and running threw was something that was very fun for my 3 year old. This was a really enjoyable day. After Train Town we headed to Sonoma Plaza and had a picnic lunch and played on the playground. Such a fun day!
