Fort Point
End of Marine Drive,
San Francisco,
California
"Interesting place to visit"
A good time to go see Fort Point is right after you go see the Golden Gate Bridge. It is an old brick civil war fort. It is a fun place for the kids to run around without worry. It has some interesting exhibits of the time when the fort was in use and some interesting stories about the people that lived and worked there. It gives you an intesting view of the Golden Gate Bridge you won't get anywhere else. All ages of people will enjoy this.

"sitting on top of the world"
This is a great hike up many steps. It is quite an experience climbing this huge rock one step at a time and hanging onto those rails for dear life. We went up with a child 4 and child 8 and their grandparents. Be sure and keep a hand on the little ones. We all enjoyed it and were very reluctant to leave. I can't wait to go back.

Point Reyes Lighthouse
End of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard,
Point Reyes Station,
California 94956
We went with our elementary age children to see the lighthouse and museum. It is great going down the steps, but of course much harder going back up. There is a small museum inside the lighthouse - be sure to see the whale lice. The views are beautiful. It is a fun place to visit and worth the walk.

Angel Island State Park

We went to Angel Island to spend a day. We took a lunch and hiked to the top with two little kids. They made it all the way, but we heard a lot of complaining. It was a hot day in October and we had to shed all our jackets, but then we needed them later for the ride home on the boat. The views from the top are wonderful. The boat ride is fun. On the way home we stood in the front and all got blown away.

"See another San Francisco landmark"
We always enjoy going here. Little kids are going to be somewhat board, but older children can look at the murals and see what life was like during the depression. They can learn about the WPA that painted the murals. Riding the elevator to the top is unusual because it is so old and different from normal elevators. Everyone will enjoy the view from the top.
