Ewa Beach Railway
91–1001 Renton Road,
Honolulu,
Hawaii 96706
If you have a Thomas the Tank Engine fan in your family, this is a nice Sunday activity. The ride along the west coast of Oahu is filled with nice views, but is a little lengthy. The conductor was very entertaining and kept the ride interesting. If you want a shorter train ride, go to Dole Plantation in Wahiawa.

Hoomaluhia Regional Park
45-680 Luluku Rd,
Kaneohe,
Hawaii
The highlight of Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden is the delightful fishing pond. My children (4 and 7 years old) loved being able to catch and release several varieties of fish. Bring walking shoes, water, a picnic lunch, and bread to feed the ducks. Fishing poles are provided and everything is free. Catch and release fishing is available on the weekends, but call ahead to be sure. Parking is free and plentiful. The kids will love the fishing, ducks, and open grassy areas.

Residence Inn By Marriott Anaheim Resort Area
11931 Harbor Blvd,
Garden Grove, California
"Best place for families"
Our family stayed at this hotel in May '09 and we had a fantastic experience.
The suites were spacious. They came equipped with a full kitchen, dining table, plates, utensils, full-size fridge, living area, and real queen beds (not full, but actual queen). We had the smallest suite which was more than enough for two adults and two kids. We appreciated the amount of space, especially after putting the kids to bed and enjoying some tv time in the living area.
The breakfast room is chaotic, but very well-stocked. I was very impressed with the variety and abundance of breakfast items. If it is too crowded, you can make a plate and eat in your room.
The staff was adequate, but could have been friendlier.
The parking is free, and the shuttle stop is nearby.
The pool is great and towels are plentiful.
There is a coin laundry and game room, which came in handy on our week-long trip.
This property had everything a family could need on a trip to Disneyland. We would definitely stay here again!

Waikele Premium Outlets
94-790 Lumiaina Street,
Waipahu,
Hawaii 96797
This is a surprisingly family-friendly outlet mall. The trolley is free and a great way to get from one side to the other. Kids will love the ride and the treats available at several mall vendors. There is a shave ice cart down by Old Navy and a Dippin Dots up by the outlets. There is also a Malassada (donut-type treat)truck near the bank that is a must-try. Parents will appreciate the shopping opportunity while kids will appreciate the fun diversions.

Bishop Museum
1525 Bernice Street,
Honolulu,
Hawaii 96817
The Bishop Museum is a fantastic place to take older children who express an interest in science. They will not be disappointed. The volcano is my childrens' favorite exhibit and it never ceases to amaze them. Check the website often for special events. There are periodic "family days" where admission is lower and there are activities on the lawn. Even on a regular day, the planetarium and rotating exhibits are enough to fascinate children and adults alike. Very young children will enoy running on the lawn, and can participate in a limited number of activities inside. Fun and educational!
