The Westin Charlotte

"Fabulous weekend..."
We managed to get an executive suite on the 24th floor which gave us two rooms and two baths. We got a special rate called rediscover Charlotte. The suite including parking was $100 a night including parking. There was an indoor heated pool, sauna, workout room that was well equipped and an icredible restaurant. We happened to be there on Christmas Day and they prepared a fabulous buffet - very elegantly displayed and very very good. I can't wait to go back

Unlike most of the museums in DC, this museum actually has an admission fee. But don't let that stop you - you and your older kids (10 and up) will be thrilled with the hands on activities and exhibits in this museum. Even spending time in the gift shop is fun - lots of cool gifts you have never seen anywhere else

"Plan on at least half a day..."
This is such a fun place. As an adult I never get bored going here. There's just so much to look at that brings back memories and educates. My favorites - the first lady exhibit, the ruby slippers, mister Rodgers sweater and Archie Bunker's chair. Kids love the dollhouse and toy exhibit. There's a restuarant in the museum if you get hungry.

"Everyone's favorite museum..."
We lived in DC for over 30 years and made many many trips to this museum. Everyone who came to visit wanted to go. It's an incredible experience if you have any interest in ariplanes or space. The IMAX alone is worth it. You'll spend the whole day here fortunately they have good food. It is crowded so go early. And it's FREE>

Holiday Inn Superdome
330 Loyola Ave,
New Orleans,
Louisiana 70112
"Great Place to stay in New Orleans..."
This hotel is located in the downtown business district so it's convenient to many of the attractions you'll want to see. Plus they have a free shuttle bus that will take you to the attractions. The rooms are all updated and very luxurious. Unlike most hotels in central city, thi one has a large pool located on the roof deck. The hotel is docrated in New Orleans jazz style including a huge clarinet painted on the outside of the building which is at least 26 stories high. The restaurant is charming - looks like the new orleans streetcar. And it's resonably priced with reat service.
