About Me & My Family

Marcia Glassman-Jaffe received a BA in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and a Masters in Education and Human Development with a concentration in Travel and Tourism Administration and Policy from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Marcia got her start in the travel industry as a travel agent and eventually worked as part of a management team. She later did tourism research for the Boston Organizing Committee on the viability of Boston as a host city for the Summer Olympics. Marcia also served as a research associate for an adventure travel book before authoring Fun with the Family Massachusetts. Marcia lives on the North Shore of Massachusetts with her husband, Mark, and their three daughters: Marisa, Mallory, and Morgan. Morgan Jaffe is currently a senior at Concord Academy in Concord, Massachusetts. She plans on majoring in Education with a concentration in English and History in college. She hopes to teach at the secondary school level in the future. In truth, Morgan has been working with Fun with the Family Massachusetts from the beginning, traveling around from attraction to attraction from as early as the age of ten years old. She has seen her mother go through the process of researching, writing, and editing, and now she has collaborated to become a coauthor in her very first published work!

Science Discovery Museum
177 Main Street,
Acton,
Massachusetts 01720
"Fun with the Family"
Interactive exhibits throughout the Science Discovery Museum encourage hands-on experimentation and invention. Children particularly enjoy the Inventor’s Workshop woodworking shop. The music room encourages discoveries of things that can be used to make music, such as rubber balls, tuning forks, a music wall, and an air harp, which uses beams of light to make certain sounds. The sea of clouds is a dish with fog in it that helps children understand what a cloud is like.
This museum along with the Children's Discovery Museum are a big hit with inquisitive, playful kids. Ongoing fun and educational activities on any given day could include butterfly making, face painting, visits from superheroes, and music performances. Check the schedule.

Clarendon Street Playground
Clarendon St and Commonwealth Ave,
Boston,
Massachusetts 02116
"Fun with the Family"
Renovated in 2007, this playground has been a respite for both locals and visitors for years.
Parents with younger kids love the fenced in area where kids of all ages can climb, swing, slide and play with the sand.
Older kids often hang out in the open grass area while chasing each other in a game of freeze tag or soccer.
