San Diego Zoo | kids travel, kids activities
San Diego Zoo

This is the mother of all zoos. Just fantastic. Kids and adults of any age will totally love this. Its clean, well-maintained, easy to navigate and gorgeous. Be sure to bring a stroller - its a ton of walking - but that's hardly unusual for a zoo! My kids prefer the zoo to the wild animal park - they were too little to appreciate the park, I think.

I was not excited to try CA Adventure, I admit. But it really was lots of fun. It has some terrific kids/family rides and was so much less crowded than Disneyland next door. The kids were literally walking right on to some rides!! There's tons of characters wandering around - keep your eyes peeled!

Disneyland Park | kids travel, kids activities

Of course its five stars!!! Of course our kids loved it! Disneyland is GREAT with young kids - better than Disney World. Its less walking and almost everything you want is in one central location. Get there early and off-season if you can, but even in summer its not nearly as crowded (or hot) as FL.

Its only one room in the basement of the Commerce Building. While the kids loved looking at the fish, even they were like, "That's it??" Its one of the few activities in DC that isn't free, so I would recommend catching other attractions and hitting the National Aquarium in Baltimore instead.

Yes, there is a panda. And its free. But as far as zoos go, our kids and us were a little disappointed. Its very crowded and hard to see many of the animals. (NOTE: There was a lot of construction when we were there) Parking is next to impossible, so be sure to take public transportation or get there really early!!
