"Cool but beware of swimming"
This is a nice place to visit however be very careful swimming as the currents are very strong and there are many rocks in the water, thanks to the Civil War. Previously, you could drive all over the area with a four wheel drive and see the coolest wildlife but not anymore. It is still very pretty, remote and a nice place to stop for a picnic.

"Stop the car for this one"
This is a wonderful stop on the way to the ferry which crosses over to Southport. It is hands on with lots of different learning environments. I have one kid who would stand near the shark tank all day if I let her. It is so cool. Don't be in a rush, there is too much to see.

"Well worth the price"
We have always been members of this Y without a regret. There have been a lot of changes over the past 15 years and all of them positive. It truly is a family, positive environment with lots of activities for every person in your family. Especially love their kids sports programs. Always positive, encouraging no matter the skill.

"Never gets old"
We love this zoo in all of the zoos we have visited. It is wide open and you actually look for the animals instead of seeing them sit in one place. I have always felt very comfortable to let my kids walk a few steps ahead exploring the environment and the animals around them. It is a ton of walking but there is a trolley that goes thruout the park. I would not recommend the middle of summer as the heat is very hard for the animals as well as the humans. Don't miss the polar bears!!

"Great for a picnic"
This is a great place for an "under the trees" lunch. The trees are really cool as they shadow the area. There is a great bank for crabbing. Think chicken leg on a string that you pull in slowly and then scoop up with a net. We have literally spent hours doing this on low tide. Watch for red ants if you are a picnic blanket kind of family or use one of the many picnic tables.
