About Me & My Family
I work out of my home part-time and my husband is a union plumber. We have a 4 year old daughter and an angel son who would have been 3 later this year. We also have a "dorkie" puppy (dauchsand/yorkie mix) named Gracie.
We love to travel to Northern WI to vist grandma and grandpa at the cabin and swim, ski, and tube behind the boat.
During the snowy months, we enjoy traveling locally and spending a weekend night in a hotel, just because. Swimming in the winter is one of my daughter's favorite things.

McDonald's Playland - Sycamore
1660 Dekalb Ave,
Sycamore,
Illinois 60178
"Always a place to sit in the playland"
The McDonald's in Sycamore was recently rebuilt (2007 I believe) and the playland here is one of the best. There are activities for all ages - toddlers to teenagers. The main attraction is a several story jungle area with a rather large plastic windy slide.
There are a large assortment of tables to sit at and we've never had a problem sitting/eating in the actual playland area.
My 3 year old loves to play here. She even finishes her meal first.

Popeye's on Lake Geneva

"Balloon Animals for Kids"
We visited this restaurant in Lake Geneva with a 2 year old and a 3 year old. It was okay food and was absolutely packed. We were there over Venetian Festival weekend, so expected it to be very busy. This place can hold a ton of people and we didn't have much of a wait.
They did have a kids menu with real mac & cheese, not boxed. They also had an employee walking around making balloon animals, which was a highlight for the kids.

Harbor Shores on Lake Geneva
300 Wrigley Dr,
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
We stayed at this hotel over Venetian Festival weekend in August 2010. We had a lakeside view room with a balconey which proved to be awesome for the fireworks and lighted boat parade. We watched both from our room while enjoying a pizza from Gino's East which is also located in the hotel.
They also have an indoor and outdoor pool. You can't access the outdoor pool from the indoor pool area though. You have to walk throught the lobby of the hotel to get there and being that you are soaking wet if you have just gone swimming in the indoor pool, you leave puddles. We were happy to see that they have a 0 depth outside which was nice for our 3 year old.
The only complaint I have about this hotel is that the lock on the balconey door is tricky. We all actually got locked out on the balconey after the door locked behind us. Very embarassing, but we were able to flag down a maid driving to the back parking lot that was able to contact maintenance to jimmy the outside door (which the security bar was engaged) and let us back in.

Best Western Grand Seasons Hotel
110 Grand Seasons Drive,
Waupaca, Wisconsin
"Good Hotel; Don't sit in the Kiddie Pool!"
We enjoyed a girls weekend with my mother and my 3 year old daughter in June 2010 over Strawberry Fest weekend in Waupaca. We spent most of the trip in the pool area. This hotel has two large water slides; however, we didn't try either out so don't know how fun they are. It did appear that the people going down them were having a blast.
There is a small pool area with 2 basketball hoops in the pool. The pool seemed a little small for them though. We did get bonked in the head a couple of times. The pool also had a small kiddie area with activities for toddlers. The floor of this area was the popcorn like paint and we did sit on it and when my mother got home and was washing her swimsuit, she noticed tiny wholes in the rear of the suit.

Original Wisconsin Ducks
1890 Wisconsin Dells Pkwy.,
Wisconsin Dells,
Wisconsin 53965
We took the Original WI Ducks tour on a vacation with my extended family in March 2009. My daughter was 2 years old. The duck vehicles do have life jackets on board, but we took our own since we had them along anyways for swimming in the hotel pool. It just made me more comfortable.
We did the tour sometime after the big rain in this area and they were still rebuilding Lake Delton. We have done this tour several times over the years, and this was the first time that we didn't actually go into Lake Delton. It was still interesting though.
My daughter enjoyed the ride but did get a little scared when we had close quarters going between the cliffs. Also, it was a little long for her and the bumps and the humming of the vehicle put her to sleep for the last 15 min of the tour.
