Comfort Inn Half Moon Bay
2930 Cabrillo Hwy N,
Half Moon Bay, California
"Find Comfort at The Comfort Inn of Half Moon Bay"
This past weekend, I took my four daughters to Half Moon Bay for a girl’s night out. We stayed at The Comfort Inn of Half Moon Bay, located on the coastside's beautiful beachfront Cabrillo Highway. Comfort Inn is a nice hotel in a serene location within walking distance of the beach. Nearby recreational activities include Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, Sea Horse Ranch, Pescadero's Harley Farms, historic Main Street, the famous Coastal Trail, and many excellent restaurants.
At check in, two staff members warmly greeted us in a cozy lobby with a flat screen television and fireplace. They kindly advised me on Half Moon Bay’s kid-friendly restaurants and kid-friendly activities. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a welcome letter with two complementary bottles of water and a protein bar in my room. The protein bar came in handy when my youngest daughter experienced a late night craving.
Our room featured two double beds, a writing desk, and a microwave and refrigerator. Although we did not utilize it, the hotel also offers a workout facility. Additionally, Comfort Inn offers free Wi-Fi, a full hot breakfast, and free parking. After a fun day of exploring Half Moon Bay's excellent shopping and beaches, we enjoyed watching a movie while eating popcorn. The girls loved our room and we had a fun time bonding and getting away from our daily routines. Everyone enjoyed a satisfying night's sleep in comfortable beds; we did not experience traffic noise or loud music during the night as I imagine some patrons do at other hotels on the busy strip.
There was a great selection of breakfast items offered at the buffet, something for everyone in my family. Some of our choices included Belgium waffles, cheese omelets, and cereal. I highly recommend Comfort Inn of Half Moon Bay to families looking for a quiet weekend.
This review is based on a complimentary one night stay at the Comfort Inn in Half Moon Bay, CA. I received no other compensation and the business did not request that I express any particular point of view. My opinions are my own.

CuriOdyssey
1651 Coyote Point Drive,
San Mateo,
California 94401
This is the first time I've been here since the renovation and name change to CuriOdyssey. It felt like a mini-Exploratorium. The kids had fun exploring the mechanics of various machines throughout the facility. They were fascinated with the magnet activity room and stayed there for half the visit. The older half of my kids loved riding the stationary bicycle trying to make music while the younger half enjoyed watching the foam shapes fly out of the wind tunnel. All of my kids enjoyed the honeybee exhibit and animal exhibits outdoors. It was really nice to see the otters swimming up close and waddling behind the ducks in the garden and wildlife habitats. Overall, it was a sweet hands-on museum that my kids enjoyed. I actually bought a membership and will be going there more often. A nice bonus is visiting the Magic Mountain playground with the dragon slide on our way out of Coyote Point Recreation area. The kids love that park.

Benihana
1496 Bayshore Highway,
Burlingame,
California 94010
"Great Food & Entertainment"
Since the food is pretty pricey, we reserve our dining at Benihana for special occasions. On our most recent visit, we celebrated my 6 year old daughter's and her friends' birthdays. My daughter was too young to remember coming here and her friend has never been. It was such an amazing experience watching them enjoy the chef prepare our food before their eyes. They loved the pulsating heart made of rice. They cheered on when the chef was tossing shrimp tails in his hat and pocket. They screamed when the onion volcano started to explode. It was so much fun to watch them enjoy themselves. They loved the food and gobbled everything up while wearing their tall red hats. They loved having the Japanese Happy Birthday song sung to them. They didn't want the night to end. I felt it was a nice gesture that the staff came to take our group picture. I loved how it was instantly printed and given to us before we left. Before I put my daughter to bed that night she told me that she wanted to have every birthday dinner at Benihana. I loved seeing her smile as she fell asleep. Her friends' parents called the next morning and relayed a similar experience with their daughter. They said she wants every birthday there as well. It was worth every penny!

The Elephant Bar
1600 Old Bayshore Highway,
Burlingame,
California 94010
"Great Food & Great View"
We love eating at the Elephant Bar in Burlingame. We usually request a window seat so we can see the planes taking off from San Francisco International Airport. It's a great view and the kids love counting how many planes they see throughout the duration of our meal.
The jungle decor is amazing and my children love the elephant door knobs and giant leaf-shaped fans that adorn the place. They love the animal masks that come on the children's menu as well. It adds to the fun theme of the restaurant.
The food is superior. There are many healthy meal options to choose from on both the adult and children's menu. The price of food is very reasonable and you could buy discounted gift cards ahead of time from Costco.
There is usually a wait, so call ahead and make reservations if they allow you to. The food is amazing and the staff is extremely friendly. We eat there quite a bit and have never had poor service. I highly recommend this restaurant for the yummy food, good service, and fun atmosphere.

Embassy Suites San Francisco Airport - Burlingame
150 Anza Blvd,
Burlingame, California
"Great Facility - Unfriendly Staff"
The Embassy Suites in Burlingame is absolutely breathtaking. It's gorgeous view of the San Francisco Bay and airport runway is stunning. The interior of the hotel is so serene with it's koi pond. The luxurious rooms were beautifully decorated. Unfortunately, our experiences with the staff weren't at the same level of enjoyment.
The staff was terrible! As soon as they found out we were celebrating a birthday sleepover party for my 12 year old and her 4 friends, they treated us like dirt! The lady who supervised the pool was extremely rude and pretty much harassing. She kept hovering over my guests and yelling at them to not make too much noise, splash too much, or dive (this last complaint was reasonable).
The housekeeping seemed irritated when we asked for extra pillows, blankets and towels for the kids. I guess they didn't like that each child wanted to shower after swimming. Ridiculous!
They wound up charging us an extra $50 because we "trashed" the room. After questioning what "trashed" was, they told us there was cake on the table and confetti on the floor. Yes, we had cake and confetti. It was a birthday party for goodness sakes! Was it too hard for housekeeping to wipe a table and vacuum the floor? Luckily, I took photos of the room before we left and after complaining to corporate of our poor treatment throughout the one night stay, the $50 "trashing" fee was waived and we were given a one-night complimentary stay that will go to waste. I will not be returning there. My guests and I were treated poorly and heard similar stories from people in the lobby at checkout as well. I definitely DO NOT recommend staying here. It is NOT kid-friendly.
