Bronx Zoo
2300 Southern Boulevard,
Bronx,
New York
"Bigger than you think zoo"
Bronx zoo is definitely a whole day type of trip. There is a lot of walking in between exhibits, often only being one animal and the animal is hiding in the cave. There is one part that doesn't allow strollers to pass and the dads had to carry strollers with sleeping kids two by two down a flight of stairs. The food court is easy to get food. Food was expensive as expected and there was plenty outdoor or indoor seating. We were there 4 hours and barely got through 1/2 the zoo. The parking is tricky too, try not to park in the main parking, but requires navigating through bronx which can be tricky for out of towners. Try not to go on very hot days. There are some drink/snack stations but might be a while of walking before you find one. Might be a better idea to pack snacks under your stroller. strollers recommended because it's a lot of walking for a 2 year old. Petting zoo part is great!!

National Aquarium
14th and Constitution Avenue, NW,
Washington,
District of Columbia 20230
This aquarium was a nice excursion near the japanese street festival during the cherry blossom festival in washington dc in april. It happen to be a super windy day and this place was a nice shelter to goto. Kinda pricey for a small rectangular aquarium. You also have to go through security to get in. The cashier said it would take about 45 minutes to complete but our rambunctious 2 year old finished it in 15 minutes. Most of the tanks are up high and so you have to lift small toddlers to see what was in the tanks. She loved the little alligators (she thought were dinosaurs) and probably spent more time looking at the little plastic animals in the tiny gift shop than the real fish in the aquarium. The bathroom was small as well and not many stalls and no baby changing station.
