Worst Travel Moment With My Kids:
There are no bad travel moments, only learning experiences. Traveling with children (regardless of age) and other adults requires a LOT of understanding and patience. It means taking a potentially bad situation and making it work.

Mulates Restaurant
201 Julia St.,
New Orleans,
Louisiana 70130
Mulates is a great place to eat. I love the cajun food and the ambiance. This is casual dining and it's located near the Riverwalk, convention center, and not too far from the Aquarium. The food is delicious (a bit spicy, even for a New Orleanian), but still really good. If you go for dinner, there are live local bands playing zydeco and cajun music. Definitely a fun place

New Orleans area plantations
Differs,
New Iberia,
Louisiana
Be sure to include at least one (or more) plantations in your trip to New Orleans. Some are close, some are further out, but there's certainly one on your way into or out of the city. The plantations are interesting, historical, and the properties are gorgeous. Some of the plantations even have staff dressed in historical clothing. It's a fun way to break up a long car ride. The houses all have large properties to run around outside. Some also have restaurants.

The National World War II Museum
945 Magazine St.,
New Orleans,
Louisiana
Even the little ones will find the big planes and uniforms interesting. This museum is truly a must see- for the older kids and the adults, it will surely send chills and goosebumps down your spine. The Stage Door Canteen boasts entertainment from the era. It only takes an hour or two to get through so if you have a small child, bring a stroller and let them sleep.

The Cabildo
Decatur Street,
New Orleans,
Louisiana
"Very interesting and historically significant... but maybe not for little ones"
The Cabildo is really interesting and educational. It is one of the most significant places in America as this is where the Louisiana Purchase was signed. Older kids and adults will find the artifacts and stories interesting. The younger kids will be bored. If your little ones take a nap, this would be a good time to visit.

Jackson Square
Decatur Street,
New Orleans,
Louisiana
Jackson square is surrounded by the St. Louis Cathedral, the the Presbytere and Cabildo (Louisiana State Museums), the Lower and Upper Pontalba Apartments. There are shops, eateries, street performers, and LOTS of photo ops all around. It's a must visit for any New Orleans trip. The square is free (though it closes at dark) but the museums that surround it have admission fees.
