Water Heaven! for all ages. There's even a special baby pool. Built in the Old West style like a lodge it's a spectacular getaway for a family who loves the water. There's a toddler pool and even a Spa for the grownups to unwind. Be sure to sign up for emails for special deals. They will even accomodate your special group. Best of all the water in the water park is always warm.

"Zoo - free in a big city park"
Wonderful place to take kids ( of all ages) is Maymont Park. There's a petting zoo and small zoo where little ones can get up close to the animals. Extensive grounds include the mansion and trails and Japanese Garden. A lovely place to explore to relax and recharge.

When we went there was an African Dance group performing and my daughter was mesmerized. There are plenty of exhibits set up and even a "grocery store" with fake food to shop for. Fun for the little ones but maybe not for older "big" kids. They even have a membership you can buy so it's not as expensive to go more often if you live near.

A wonderful place to get away from everything. The Gem Mining Capital of the World. Rent a cabin nearby or stay in a bed and breakfast or hotel. Great food and quaint eateries. Walk around town. There are gem and mining museums and the Scottish Tartan museum which is the only one of it's kind in the United States.

Biltmore Estate

The house is always changing so it's a wonderful place to go back to see again and again. Beautiful gardens during garden week in April and events all year including the Christmas trees during late Fall. Make sure to have on walking shoes as the house is enormous. There are self-guided tours available - you can rent a headset that will guide you through the rooms and describe in detail what you are seeing. It's often crowded and you should thinka bout making reservations and purchasing your tickets in advance.
