Community Park in Benicia
Dempsey Drive,
Benicia,
California 94510
"Perfect for your older children"
My six year old absolutely loves this park because of its HUGE cement slide. However, I have younger children , ages 1 & 3, that I can not take to this park because I feel it is dangerous for them to be around the slide. It is more of a fight to keep them off the slide than it is worth. in addition, the park is so spread out that you can not let your children just play becuase it is so easy for them to wonder off.

Benicia City Park
250 East L Street,
Benicia,
California 94510
This park is a favorite with my kids. However, I have to be on my toes. The structure is sooo large that it is easy to lose sight of your children. A huge bonus is that the park is located just behind the City Fire Departments main station, so if you have a curious child, they may be interested in a tour (call ahead 707.746.4275). This park is located just feet away from Benicia's downtown, which offeres shopping, dining and access to the water & views.

Lake Merritt and Children’s Fairyland
699 Bellevue Avenue,
Oakland,
California 94610
"Fun escape from fast paced city life!"
So much for the kids to explore! This is a small place, so it works well for the kids to explore out of the stroller. The key used to play stories can also be used at the Oakland Zoo! Lake Merritt's close proximity makes for a great transition for heading home. The kids especially loved the little shore area...the water is calm and very shallow.

Oakland Zoo
9777 Golf Links Road,
Oakland,
California 94605
With its newly completed Children's Area, log time favorites such as the Elephants, and my favorite and Meercats, The Oakland Zoo keeps the family happy. Convenient stroller accessabilty makes getting around with children easy. However, wear your good walking shoes, because there are a couple steep hills to be trekked when getting around. The train is a must, and works as a perfect break duing the day, or as a great reward for good behavior.

The Exploratorium
Palace of Fine Arts,
3601 Lyon Street,
San Francisco,
California 94123
"Beautiful Location, Lots to do!"
Since I was a child, the Exploratorium has been a wonderful place to learn, explore, play and enjoy. As an adult, with my own children, I am still engaged and entertained. I am now able to watch my children enjoy this museum as much as I did. It may be better now as an adult to watch them explore. Each time I have been the exhibits are ever changing and ever interesting.
