These animals are hilarious. They make the funniest noises and are just incredible to watch. Try to check on the seasons because young children may not want to watch when the male elephant seals start to fight. It only happens at a certain time of the year, but sometimes it can be a little scary. The best time is to go when they are having babies or when the pups are already there. There is usually a volunteer there to answer questions and watch the public so no one bothers them. Make sure to keep a good eye on your child!

"Hearst Castle"
This is a wonderful place to visit. However, it may be a little difficult with young children. There are a lot of stairs to walk up (you can pick different tours with less stairs). Children also may get board because there is a lot of information being told about the history of Hearst Castle. They will enjoy seeing all the pools, but they are not allowed to touch anything. I would wait until children are old enough to understand the history.
There is also a National Geographic Theater that has different showings every so often, this is worth looking into for children.
