Disneyland Park
1313 Harbor Boulevard,
Anaheim,
California 92802
Disneyland, of course, is a must see. We live about 1 hour away, but waited to take our daughter until she could enjoy it a little bit more. She was 1.5 years when we went.
A few of my personal thoughts about Disneyland:
1. It can get very hot in the summer, make sure to pack a lot of drinks, or be prepared to buy a lot of them. My poor daughter got so hot and red in the face. Ended up spending a small fortune on bottled water and frozen lemonade.
2. I would not recommend Davy Crockett's Canoes. You think it might be a ride, but it is not. Everyone on the canoe really has to stroke. The leader of my canoe actually yelled at those of us slacking off.
3. My daughter handled the Tea Cups very well. I was hesitant at first, but she did just dine. She also liked the Dumbo ride, Jungle Cruise, and Its a Small World. But her favorite was the plain old carousel.
4. If you ever have a chance to eat at The Blue Bayou inside Pirates of the Caribbean, try it! It is delicious. A bit pricey, but they have excellent food.
5. I did not think about it in advance, but they have strollers you can rent. They looked a lot lighter than the one I was hauling around!
6. It is quite a trek from the parking structure to the entrance of the parks. You have to go down stairs (elevators for strollers) and take a tram. That was a pain.
7. Cost is expensive, Disneyland has always been very expensive in my opinion. I live in So. California so I try to get the So. Cal resident discount tickets.
Regardless, it is the happiest place on earth.

Living Desert Zoo and Gardens
47–900 Portola Avenue,
Palm Desert,
California 92260
This is a great destination for families! We went in mid-October, and it was still pretty hot. That is the first thing to consider- try and go in the late fall through early spring. It heats up fast out there.
The paths are dirt, make sure to wear shoes. Not flip flop friendly! There are some minor hills, but nothing major in my opinion. If you were walking in 105 degree heat, the hills would probably seem HUGE!
My daughters favorite exhibit was the giraffes. You are up high enough, where you can feed them out of your hands. We did not get a chance to do that, but I have seen videos, and it looks pretty cool!
The other interesting part was the animal veterinary hospital. Not only was it nice and cool, but they had videos running of animals getting exams. My daughter seemed pretty interested in this.
They really have an amazing assortment of exhibits, a lot of them seemed like animals you would see on a safari or something. Essentially all animals at The Living Desert you will find in one of the worlds deserts.
Admission is cheap. You can get a membership, which I did not decide to do. We got one at The San Diego Zoo because the weather there is much more tolerable year round.
Excellent place. I will definitely take my family again.

Los Angeles Zoo
5333 Zoo Drive,
Los Angeles,
California 90027
While nothing compares to the San Diego Zoo, I was very impressed with this zoo. We went in December, in the rain, and still had a fantastic time!
The LA Zoo is a great size- not too big and not too small. It can easily be done in a 1/2 or full day. The maps were easy to understand, and the terrain was not too bad pushing the stroller.
The price is fantastic ($13 for adults, free for 2 and under!). Makes it affordable for us to make a quick daytrip, and not feel like we have to stay all day to get our money's worth.
Like everywhere, the food was overpriced. We decided t grab lunch outside the Zoo for this reason.
The elephant exhibit is under construction, so that was a bummer. There was a lot of loud construction noise at times.
The gorilla exhibit was very good, its amazing to see the size of some of these animals. Since we went around Christmas time, there were reindeer and a miniature ice skating rink for kids.
Very nice, I will definitely go back in the future.

"San Diego Zoo- A Mini Trip"
We took our 2 year old daughter to the San Diego Zoo on 2/14/10. WOW! I had not been there since I was a teenager, I cant believe how big it is.
First, we decided to get the year pass to both the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park. I am glad that we did, because my daughter only lasted about 2 hours! I guess that is the thing about toddlers, we had planned this for months, and we were in the car longer then at the actual zoo.
The zoo is large, the maps are a little confusing. My hubby and I got lost several times, and we are fairly smart, so it was a bit frustrating!
There is a new baby Panda, Yun-Zi in the Panda Habitat. The line was VERY long, and we decided not to wait. Since then, I have read that they have moved Yun-Zi to the main viewing area, so the line should shorter now.
The Polar Bear Plunge looks fascinating, and you can see the polar bears swim from an underwater viewing area. It was closed, but is going to reopen at the end of March. We plan on going back to see this exhibit because it looks amazing from the pictures online.
My daughters favorite exhibits were: the hippos, the okapi, the tigers, and the tapir. She did not like the reptile exhibit, and to be honest it kind of gave me the willies too!
I would suggest anyone wanting to plan a trip to the zoo to check out their website. There are a lot of special exhibits, and you can buy the discounted year membership to both parks (only $89 for both my husband and I!).
Since we were only there for a short time, I estimate we saw 1/3 of the zoo. We can not wait to go back, and to go to the Wild Animal Park.
