"Want to See Your Kids Mouths Open Without Any Words Coming Out?"
If you do, take them to Hershey's Chocolate World! The entrance has a huge archway made up of characters based on various Hershey's candies. Once inside your kids can get "Staff ID Badges" and get ready for a stylized tour of the Hershey's candy-making process. Now, Willy-Wonka it's not, but it is great, especially the singing cows (my daughter sang their song for hours afterward - yes, it does begin to wear on one's nerves). Upstairs there's a a full service fast-food joint, and downstairs, ahh, downstairs, is a collection of every candy Hershey makes. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate, caramel, caramel and chocolate, you name a candy Hershey makes, and it's there.

On top of that, get on board a trolley tour and see the area around Chocolate World, including the absolutely incredible school Milton Hershey established for orphaned children. It rivals man college campuses and is run by a dedicated group of teachers, and full-time staff.

This is a great vacation stop, even if you don't hit the amusement-driven Hershey Park!

"Fairly Decent, But Not Luray Caverns"
If you're looking for a true "cavern experience" on your trip, then this place is probably for you. It's nor nearly as family-friendly as Luray Caverns, at least I didn't think so. I mean, we got to see bats and stuff in the cave (brave Daddy, "don't worry, they won't bother us." while inside Daddy, "AAGGGHHHH, bats, run, outta my way, every man, woman, and child for themselves!"). Standard gift shop and overpriced snacks and beverages. This is more for true amateur spelunkers, take the kids to Luray and let then see the stalactite organ.

"Dress for Meals?"
Swanky digs, to be sure. But, if you don't like golf, and aren't into fly-fishing (and I LOVE fishing, but not everybody does, especially fly-fishing) then there's not much to do. Plus, you dress for meals, and the only restaurant I found that wasn't theirs was the Subway over the way. For all its pomp and circumstance, I wasn't impressed and I can't see what the kids would do after their third game of checkers.

"Shamu!"
I had flown down from a meeting in Roanoke, VA to meet my family that had already driven down to Orlando. I'd had to leave a meeting early to fly down there, and was frankly a little frustrated that I'd had to leave work behind to meet up with them. So, we hurried down to Seaworld the day after I'd flown down so we could get to the Shamu "Believe" show. We sat and watched, and I watched my daughter, who was enamored with what she was seeing. At the end, she turned to me and my wife and said, "Mommy, Daddy, thank you for bringing me to the Shamu show!" As tears welled up, work was suddenly where it belonged, several states north, and forgotten.

We watch the video we shot at the show very often, and that provides a lot of perspective when we need it. Seaworld is worth the trip, period.

"What Hasn't Been Said About Disney World?"
Yeah, costs a fortune, but it's worth it! Well, it is. I mean, my son wasn't born yet, but my daughter was all about it. Breakfast with the Princesses, and her dressed as a princess? Tell me I can get that anywhere else. The electric parade down Main Street, USA? Yeah, she'll remember that forever, just like I remember my dad taking me when I was a kid. And since my son wasn't born yet, I have a feeling it won't be the last tie I'm at Disney World!
