"Three years and all is well"
My family and I have been staying here for about 3 years now with no problems. The pool is both in and outdoors. Nice location, close to shopping and any restaurant possible. Nice restaurant in hotel too! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall wonderful!

Lake Metroparks Farmpark
8800 Chardon Rd.,
Willoughby,
Ohio 44094
Farmpark is a family oriented science and cultural center devoted to agriculture, farming, and country life.
My family and I are members and love spending anywhere from a few hours to all day at the Farmpark. The fall is the best time with the corn maze and apple themed weekends. There is always something to do and or see--quilt displays, the balloon farm display, winter lights, halloween hayrides, and so much more. A great asset to Lake County OH!!
It's actually in Kirtland, OH, but the computer wouldn't allow me to select that city.

"So glad I can take my family here!"
I went to this amusement park as a kid in the 1970s-1980s and am thrilled that I can take my kids now!!
My sister, elderly mother, and I took my 6 year old and 20 month old this summer (2009) and had a blast!! Perfectly geared park for younger children. Storybook forest was the best! (Although Little Red Riding Hood was a little older than I remembered.) They had the best gift shop too. The wilderness adventure area was perfect for my 6 year old! He loved the rope swing and treehouse. Mister Roger's Neighborhood was nice but it's really sad that Public TV is no longer carrying the show so kids can relate to it. We even got to meet Mayor Maggie, Neighbor Aber, and Speedy Delivery himself, Mr. McFeely! They gave us a lot of freebies too. We can't wait to go back next summer!!

Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium
7340 Butler Street,
Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania 15206
My elderly mother, sister, and I took my 20 month old and 6 year old this past summer (2009).
The zoo key was only $2 and very worth it. A nice souvenir and it was fun to use at the various stations around the zoo. It didn't feel like we were constantly climbing hills. The aquarium was very nice as well. There's even a free carousel at the end of the zoo and the kids loved that. Lots of great picture opportunites and the kids loved the playground area.

"Stay at home and watch the movie/read the book to your kids"
The tickets are $35/person regardless of age. Seating is first come, first served--no assigned seats. The children receive a medium size jinglebell from Santa and a ziplock baggie with some stickers, mini coloring book, eraser, and 2 crayons from the elves. Everyone is served hot cocoa and a chocolate chip cookie. My husband and I took our 2 year old and 6 year old for the first time this year (2009).
The partking lot is barely lit. The boarding began at 6 pm and the train left at 7pm. We were able to arrive at around 6:30pm due to work/day care, dinner, and driving across town. The train was already filled. Since there are no assigned seats, my family was unable to sit together. My husband took our 2 year old and was able to get 2 seats together. My 6 year old had to sit across the aisle from me. We couldn't even talk, let alone hear each other. Seating was very cramped. Thankfully one of the volunteers near the 7pm departure time asked someone to move together so my 6 year old and I could actually sit together.
The train ride itself was fine. At the North Pole the kids are told to move to the one side to see everything and the parents are left to see what they can from the other side. Santa boards at the North Pole and did a great job of making sure pictures were taken with all the kids.
Overall, it wasn't worth it. We paid $140 to not sit together, drink a cup of cocoa and eat 1 cookie, listen to the story, see Santa, and go home with a couple trinkets for the kids. Like I said in the title, stay at home and just watch the movie or read the book with your kids. Cookies and cocoa are easy to buy/make and you'll be a lot more comfortable and won't miss any magic.
