This hotel bills itself as a great place for people who are using one of Duke's medical programs, especially the diet programs. However, we found it to be a great place for families. Rather than a small galley kitchen or college style fridge and microwave, it has a full real kitchen, with plates, etc., and a completely separate bedroom and living room. When one of our kids couldn't sleep, it was great to have a place to go with him other than the bathroom, as we would have done in other hotels. The appearance of the exteriors is a little quirky, rather than manicured, but charming, , and the tower room where breakfast is available is also a little odd, but pleasant. When making a reservation don't let the lack of "kids" in the reservation request put you off- it is a good place to stay for families.
