"Surprises await your kids here."
We stayed at the Hotel Palomar over the summer and had such a wonderful stay. From the time we checked in, the kids were getting special treatment and surprises. They were asked to pick a prize from a treasure chest and got a kids pack with little toys like a yo-yo, playing cards, coloring books and more.

The rooms were spacious and the beds were divinely comfortable. We booked a one bedroom suite and it was perfect to have the kids be in a separate area so we could stay up later. We're sticklers for bed time even on vacation because it makes day time sightseeing go so much smoother. Our kids were thrilled with their animal print bathrobes. We also enjoyed the restaurant with great food and attentive staff.

In the evening, the kids were surprised with complimentary milk and cookies. It made them feel very special while on vacation. We did order room service one night when we were particularly tired from a full day at the spy museum and were pleasantly surprised with the menu.

Besides all the wonderful kid-friendly touches, the location in Dupont circle was really good. It's about 20 minutes walking distance to the White House and 30 minutes to most museums and 20 minutes to Georgetown. The Metro is only 2 blocks away. Bring a stroller if you have little ones.

"Great value and great for families"
Best part of our stay? - The different carts you can order up. Our kids had a blast the board game cart (Monopoly, Sorry, Clue, Candy Land, etc...)

Second best thing - free parking! Yup you read that right. A downtown hotel with FREE parking. Although I am a big supporter of public transportation, we were driving in and the thought of having to pay $20 for parking each day made me cringe. Other free amenities were a huge bonus - free internet, free shuttle downtown and free laundry. That sure came in handy since we like to back light.

While the room was a little small, it was well laid out. The room have a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, so save some money by purchasing snacks at Trader Joe's that just 3 blocks away.

"milk and cookies made mom smile"
Arriving tired and worn after a a grueling flight with our kids, I was so comforted when we were surprised with cookies and milk for the kids, but enough for mom and dad. That won my heart over already. The service at Park Hyatt was nothing short of superb our entire stay.

I was glad that even though we arrived looking very disheveled, that the staff welcomed us as if we were royalty.

If you have an American Girl fan at home, splurge for the American Girl Package. It will send your daughter over the moon! The American Girl package included beds for the dolls to sleep in, the cutest slippers and robes for your little girl, kid's shampoo and conditioner, milk and cookies.

The complimentary breakfast and manager's reception was yummy and the kids had a great time at the pool every evening. Did I say that the service was amazing...it really was. So friendly and so accommodating.

Location was perfect, right off Michigan Ave with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

"free breakfast, free dinner, we're there."
Our family is now in love with the Homeward Suites chain. Their suites with kitchen was just perfect for our family. However with the complimentary breakfast and dinners, we hardly had to use it. Nonetheless, it was useful for preparing snacks, warming up milk and just eating in our rooms. The had containers ready for guests who rather eat in their room than in the dining room. In any case, there were food markets within walking distance. It saves so much money to not be eating out every night. The large rooms at this hotel allowed us to spread out. Sometimes when we stay in hotels with the kids, it feel like everyone is on top of each other - not here.

The hotel was a few blocks from the Double Decker Tour bus stop - so this worked out very well. Forget about driving your car because valet parking is $42/day. There so so much within walking distance including a beach.

This is not a luxury hotel, but it works well for a family and really is value for money if you take advantage of the free breakfast and dinners.

"yay for this all suite hotel"
It's hard to go wrong as a family in an all suite hotel. The location is amazing as it is right next to the Magnificent Mile. However, there is currently construction in a building next door and it was so noisy in the morning.

A big bonus for families is that there is an indoor pool - rare for hotels in Chicago. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The kids were delighted to receive a backpack to welcome them.

Restaurant is pretty good, but expensive, so if you're not up for spending $90 on burgers, fries and soda, find some other place to eat!

Service was friendly. We were particularly impressed with the concierge who was full of great ideas about what to do with our kids.
