Hotel Palomar Dallas - a Kimpton Hotel
5300 E Mockingbird Ln,
Dallas, Texas
"Great stay"
While in town for a wedding and touring around the Dallas attractions, the Hotel Palomar was perfect for our family. The hotel is beautiful and newly renovated. The staff was great to our two boys and kept them quite happy with some welcome gifts (a Matchbox car for each of them and an activity book).

The two boys loved the snacks during the happy hour and we got to enjoy a nice glass of wine which is always a treat. The outdoor rooftop pool is awesome a first for the kids. They were so thrilled to be swimming up near the clouds. Great way to cool off after a day in the Dallas heat.

The one downside is parking. Definitely not cheap for $20/night for valet, but we needed a car to get to a lot of different wedding venues. The hotel is located right next to Mockingbird Station which is convenient if you're open to public transport.

Would definitely stay again.

"Toddler heaven"
We took our 2 and 4 year old over Labor Day Weekend while we were in town for a wedding with some friends and their 2 kids (same ages). Our friends live in the area and had heard great things about the new zoo.

We all had a blast... kids and adults. The new Giants of the Savanna area is well worth the trip. They've got elephants, giraffes, impalas, and some pretty sweet cats like cheetahs and lions that you can watch through the gigantic glass wall of the air conditioned food court. Like the other reviewer said, it's really cool and the kids were just blissful.

If your little ones were ever into "Goodnight Gorilla", they'll love it because all the animals in the book are at the Dallas Zoo, including a silverback gorilla.

All the kids loved checking out the other parts of the zoo including the fantastic kids areas like the petting zoo, interactive exhibits, and small waterplay area great for the hot Dallas weather.

Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Alexandria | kids travel, kids activities
Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Alexandria
420 N Van Dorn St,
Alexandria, Virginia
"Perfect for families"
We live in the DC area and when my family comes to stay, I always recommend Hawthorn Suites Alexandria. The rooms are spacious and clean but best of all each suite also has a full kitchen that is well stocked with all the basic thing you might need to prepare a simple meal - great for saving money. The rooms have also received a recent face lift and look great. Each room had a big screen TV - a big hit with my teenage newphews. The beds are super comfortable. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast was simple but fresh and hot. Dinners are served in the evenings at no extra cost. What a deal.

We loved the free shuttle that takes you to the nearest metro station because we didn't have to drive in to see the sights at all.

All in all, the price is right. And for all you get at this hotel - it's a great value.

"Fantastic location, great price for the area"
We recently stayed at the Windsor Suites and thoroughly enjoyed out stay. The hotel was clean, staff was attentive, and room requests were delivered very promptly.

Location was perfect. Just a short walk to the Franklin Institute and Academy. don't miss the Franklin playground too. Perfect for little kids. We had a fun dip in the pool on the roofdeck which was a fun for everyone. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the view and junior loved the water.

We also liked having a full-use kitchen. Made traveling with kids a lot easier. We had cereal and eggs in the morning, packed sandwiches for lunch at the museums and usually ate dinner out at a restaurant nearby. They've got dishware, pots, utensils and a dishwasher. Perfect.

"Could not be better!"
Service at the Fairmont Hotel was truly superb. The staff bent over backwards to make sure that our needs were met.

We were particularly impressed with the well maintained and equipped fitness center, indoor pool and spa. The complementary bottled water and local red delicious apples at poolside were such a nice touch. The locker room was clean, well stocked with towels and toiletries.

The rooms were spotless. I do like a strong shower and and the water pressure could have been stronger for me personally. The housekeeping kept us well taken care off the whole stay, down to filling our ice bucket. I do like my coffee, so it was disappointing that our room didn't have a coffee maker in it. We had a one bedroom suite - beware - the french doors that divide the room have not glass in them - no sound proof, not light proof. If your kid needs a separate room, go for a bigger suite if you can afford it.

Location - could not have been better. Easy access to Pioneer Square, Chinatown and more via subway (University Station). It's a good thing because parking was insane at $26 a day.

We were impressed with all the services that the Fairmont offers for families. Our son was well taken care of with his mini bathrobe, toothbrush and no tear shampoo. He loved the cookies and milk. They even had toys we could borrow. If you don't want to lug all your baby gear on the plane, you'll be pleased to know that you can borrow the following items: Baby carriers, Bibs, Car seats, Cribs (complimentary), Diapers, Disposable baby bottles, Highchair, Infant bathtubs, Pacifiers, Playpens, Rubber sheets, Strollers, Thermometers, Toiletries, Vaporizers.
