"Gourmet burgers + great kids meal"
Finally, a restaurant that GETS that foodies sometimes have children! This is a new restaurant (opened Summer 2010) in Mariemont, OH that will tease your taste buds, no doubt.
The gourmet burgers and extensive list of beers on tap cater to the parental types who want a great dinner even with kids along for the ride. The kids' meals come with 2 side dishes (fries + applesauce or carrots), a drink and ice cream (with sprinkles, even)) all for $5. The wait staff is great with kids too, we are regulars, officially and you should be too!

Timberwind Tree Farm

Lebanon,

"Get your Norman Rockwell moment here"
Choose a pre-cut or cut your own Christmas tree, Antique tractor and wagon rides, free hot chocolate and family photo. Dress the kids warmly because its all outside and the ride is about 10 minutes long.
My boss told me about this farm when I moved to the area, he and his family have been going there for 20+ years (his sons still come back from college for it.) This is a great holiday tradition to start with your family and I'm so glad we did.
Prices are very reasonable. They are open on Saturdays and Sundays only. This is a lovely, family owned tree farm, so you feel good supporting their business.

Cincinnati Museum Center - Holiday Junction
1301 Western Avenue,
Cincinnati,
Ohio 45203
"Trains, Santa & Fun for all ages"
This is a holiday tradition for us (we even went with our nieces and nephews before our son--now 3--was born). The holiday train exhibit has train exhibits, train tables, a train that kids can ride on, and Santa visits regularly. There truly is something for every child to do/see and it grows with them.
The exhibit is downstairs at the museum center, across from the Children's Museum entrance, either take the escalator or elevator and follow the signs. There is stroller parking in the exhibit, as it gets pretty crowded on weekends (bring a sling/carrier for infants). Admission is free for members or included with purchase of an All Museums Pass or a ticket to the Cincinnati History Museum.

Doubletree Hotel Irvine-Spectrum
90 Pacifica,
Irvine, California
The rooms in this hotel were nice, but nothing to write home about. The pool was great, but pretty standard for LA standards. With this Orange County location, you're fairly close to Laguna Beach or Newport Beach, but kind of far from some of the other kids' attractions.

"Lush - you'll wish you had nothing else planned"
This is a great hotel, it was a bummer that the weekend we spent here was so jam packed with activities for a wedding we were attending. The rooms are great and the beds are dreamy. The pool is lush, to say the least. You are close to everything. About 10 minutes or so from the beach (by car...which is how you travel in LA I guess).
