With a pretty setting on Lake Habeeb, this is a surprisingly great property for little kids. It sits in Rocky Gap Park, which has a beach on the lake perfect for really little kids because it's shallow and has no waves. The hotel is low-key: there's not a lot of bells and whistles that just make for overstimulated kids and exhausted parents. They have a small indoor/outdoor pool with adjoining restaurant so you can go directly dripping wet from pool to a seat on the terrace for lunch. The indoor pool has steps into 3 ft water. The outdoor pool has a ladder into 3 ft water. Wish they had zero entry for our baby. The main restaurant has dinner and breakfast buffets, not anything to write home about but decent, and there's a table specifically with kids fare (they eat free if you're staying at the resort). The view is of the lake and it's lovely, esp in fall when all the leaves are aflame. They have kids activities like nightly s'mores around the lakeside firepit. You can also paddleboat or kayak on the lake. Or rent a bike or golf. Rooms are standard mid-range chain-hotel quality. They are kinda stingy with bathroom amenities.
All in all, good value if you want a weekend getaway from DC area in a nice area and with a variety of activities. (much cheaper than similar weekend at Greenbrier or the Homestead)
