Mariners at Safeco Field | kids travel, kids activities
Mariners at Safeco Field

"Go M's!"
We love Safeco Field! There are many price point options and lots to see and do. Of course, the experience is better if you invest the money in good seats or even better, Diamond Club tickets, but fun can be had in any seat. Nothing says summer like a baseball game and what a great venue for it. Be sure to get there early as parking is hard to find and the crowds are generally thick. I'd recommend that you start your kids off with cheaper tickets and work your way up to more expensive tickets. If it's going to be a one time deal, then go for the most expensive ones you can afford. Safeco is a beautiful venue and really worh the time and effort. GO Mariners!

"Fun and Educational"
What an adventure that is unique (mostly) to our area. We really enjoy taking ferry rides. It's a great little getaway that isn't going to break the bank. If you need a little "vacation" but can't get away for long, think about a ferry ride. The kids will enjoy the open air, the BREEZES (heavy winds, really) and the fact that they are on a boat (and still in a car). What a special treat. Mine were pretty young when we first went on a ride and they weren't at all bored. If you are concerned with your little ones being bored, be sure to bring some entertainment, prepare to make it an educational experience, bring snacks and try to plan for a short trip initially. Having a fun destination is always a good way to spruce up the trip too. Take the time to explain the different parts of the boat, show the kids a map and have fun watching the other boats. Great fun! Be sure to keep a close eye and hand on the little ones for safety reasons.

"Pretty good..."
Don't know why I wasn't more impressed with this, as most everyone else has been. Don't get me wrong, it was fun. We've gone two years in a row. I think I had high expectations and it was... okay. The last time we went was a few years ago and I understand that they have changed some things about it. We had HORRIBLE service at the Cheesecake Factory which is right in the area where the show was. I think that might have tainted the experience for us. If you are lookign for something to do, it's probably worth it, but I wouldn't say that it is the most fun Christmas attraction in the Seattle area.

"EMP Building is worth a visit"
My favorite part of the EMP is the building. It's super, uber cool. The EMP is probably best for older kids and adults. If you have a child who has a particular interest in music, they'd adore this. To get full benefit of this museum, allow yourself time to read labels and "experience" it. It's a cool museum for music lovers and worth a visit, but not my favorite Seattle attraction, and certainly won't be on the top of the little one's list.

Seattle Asian Art Museum | kids travel, kids activities
Seattle Asian Art Museum

"Grown-up fun"
Not exactly a kid's dream day! If you have typical little ones, I would say that this would not be their favorite Seattle destination. If they happen to have a particular interest in Asian art then this might be a home run, but most kids are going to find this a little dry. There are plenty of run around areas outside and a great sculpture and photo op area. You might want to reserve this attraction for older kids or be prepared with a plan to entertain the little ones outside on a nice sunny day. I believe that if you pay for admission to SAM that you have a day or so to use the ticket to get into the Asian Art museum, but please check that out for yourself as this policy may have changed.
