National Zoo

If you live in the area, the zoo is a great place to go when you don't want to spend a lot of money! You can take the metro to Woodlee Park and walk one block to the free zoo. If the weather is nice, you can spend the whole day looking at the animals. Bring a packed lunch and all you've paid is the $2 to get there!

"Fun for the whole family!!"
My family and I go to the Fall Festival every year and half an absolute blast. They have everything from slides, to hay rides, to cider, to pumpkins, to a "cornicopia" maze. It is a very well organized event with plenty of stuff for all ages. The price is reasonable for a one time a year event that your kids will love!!!

Pirates Cove Water Park Pohick Bay

"Great Price for a day of fun"
This is a great place to take the kids and not spend too much money. Children only cost $6 while adults are $7. Safe environment to take your kids that is not too croweded or overwhelming for the little ones! Everything about this waterpark is creative. The kids will be excited from their first glimpse at the entrance. The inviting and innovative building takes the shape of a pirate ship sailing in very blue, wavy waters. This is a large facility overall, meaning both the pool area and the area surrounding the pool. The Park Authority website does not specifically mention the size of their large pool, and its website photos do not do it justice. Just know that when you visit, your kids will have a lot of pool to explore. The pool depth ranges from 2.5 feet in the play structure area to 11 feet.
