Nothing is more disappointing than having to measure little kids to see if they can ride, only to find out they are too small. However, being an adult and riding little kiddie rides all day is not a good way to have fun.
Disney has created a lot of fun attractions that are great for the whole family. Here is a list of rides that just about anyone can ride and that are fun for the whole family!

Hop on the train for a complete circle tour of Disneyland, or stop at any of the 4 stations along the way. Strollers must be folded.

On a busy day at Disneyland, we hopped on the train right after we got into the park and rode it around to New Orleans Square to get us closer to our destination of Spash Mountain.. This helped us avoid the major crowds walking down Main Street. It was a short ride, but relaxing. It was difficult for us to unload our strollers and fold them up for the ride, but it was worth it for the transportation sake.
As a side note, my family does not like the diorama of the Primeval World during the ride between Tomorrowland and Main Street with Disney's interpretation of the world as he thinks it looked millions of years ago, so we usually don't ride the rails on that last 3/4 of the track.

Choose a ride on a fire engine, horse-drawn streetcar, horseless carriage, or the omnibus for a one way trip down Main Street. Strollers must be folded.

"Great transportation and fun"
We rode the horse drawn carriage from the castle down to the entrance of Main Street and had a great time as the 4 "Dapper Dans" rode with us and sang "Cruella De Ville" all the way in their 4 part harmony. What a fun ride! My only disappointment was waiting for 5 minutes for the Omnibus and then running over to the horse drawn carriage because the Omnibus never came. The vehicles frequently are pulled out of service for various parades and events. Be sure to ask a cast member for details before you wait at the sign for 5-10 minutes for no vehicle!

All kids can ride this boat ride in the dark with 2 drops, and most enjoy it. The fun singing throughout most of the ride can make it fun. Skeletons and gun fighting do appear.

This is one of my favorite rides at Disneyland. I still vividly remember sitting next to my cousin as a 10 year old and floating through the dark, watching the fireflies and listing to the plucking banjo playing. Then the thrill of dropping down the chute came and the fun began!
My kids have also really enjoyed this ride, although the darkness and the first drop can be a little scary... but super fun too! There are skeletons, pirates, shooting cannons and drunkenness displayed throughout the ride, so just sing along, "A pirates life for me, yo ho!" and enjoy.

Take a river raft ride to the island where you can run and explore to your heart's content.
reviewed on: April 02 2012
My worst nightmare came true on Tom Sawyer's Island... I lost my kids. And not just one of them... 3 of them between the ages of 3 and 5! Our big family plan was to split up all the cousins between the 4 adults and I was happy to take the 3, 5 and 5 year old on a "slower" explore of the island. After climbing the treehouse multiple times while I rested down below, we left together to find out more of the island.
The kids favorite parts were the swinging bridge and pontoon boat. when we found another cave system, I let them go in and walked around to the other side to wait for them, because the entrance looked too small for me to squeeze in comfortably. I realized after about 30 seconds, that they weren't coming out like I thought they would be. Panicked, I ran in the exit and found a complete maze of rooms, stairs, and passageways, all with a multitude of exits and entrances. I climbed up the stairs, shouting their names and found myself on the deck of a ship with a bridge heading off one way and no other stairs down. I tried going back down the stairs but it was too narrow for me and the tons of kids pouring up. I finally found a set of stairs a long way down the ship and returned to the start of the cave. After seriously praying and shouting, I turned a corner and ran into my niece. Yeah! I was so happy to see all 3 little kids, happily playing, and laughing that they couldn't find me.
Bottom line: stick together with your kids!! It is way too easy to not see kids on this island, and it is hard to find a meeting up point. The island is (of course) surrounded by water which only increased my panic of not being able to find my kids. There are not cast members located throughout the island, so it is really up to the parents to keep an eye on their little ones.

The animatronic birds and flowers will sing to you while you sit in chairs and are entertained. May be "cheesy" for older kids and adults, but most find it entertaining, especially if they remember seeing it when they were a child.

All kids can love riding on this river boat through some wild jungles, and most will not be scared by the wild animals. Adults will love or groan at the flying jokes and puns of the boat captain.

"Watch out for wiggling ears!"
My kids love hopping on the boat that takes them through the wild jungles of Disneyland. Hippos, crocodiles, zebras and tigers are seen in various funny and (jokingly) scary situations. The jokes and puns fly from the tour guide but most of them go right over my kid's heads. Now that my older ones are older (10 and 8) they noticed things like shrunken skulls and the zebra killed by the tigers (or lions?) I had to explain things and comfort some fears. My younger ones were not scared at all but enjoyed the scenery.

Float on a boat through a singing world of animatronic dolls from all different countries. Older kids and adults may find it boring, or wonderful, depending on their personality or sweet memories as a child.
reviewed on: March 31 2012
I have loved Small World since I was a little girl and had my parents take me on it 7 times in one day. As an adult, it still is magical and fun and I love seeing my little kids light up with the singing and dancing dolls from all over the world. Our 11 and 9 year olds, however, claimed it as the most boring ride of the day. Sadness!! Oh well, hopefully they will enjoy it again when they are older. At least our wait time was a mere 5 minutes. With some of the changes I noticed, I was so relieved to see and hear the quacking ducks at the end of the ride, which has been my favorite part since I was a girl.
Tips: be sure to ride before it closes, some time before the fireworks start. On our visit, it closed at 8 pm and when we got off the ride, the line was closed. We had made it just in time!
Next time I'll have my older kids search for all of the Disney characters that they can find and what country they are from. I was surprised when I saw Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland and finally caught on when I saw Pinocchio in Italy,

Who doesn't love a carousel ride, especially on a beautiful one with 60+ galloping horses?
reviewed on: March 31 2012
This carousel is absolutely beautiful and a great ride. Kids of all ages seem to love carousels! When we visited, we found two difficulties: one of them was the wait. It seemed to take a full 2-3 minutes just to load the carousels, I'm guessing because it is large and they had to check to see if everyone was buckled? At any rate, it was surprisingly long.
The second problem was that I found 3 horses all in a row and was getting my two little kids buckled when another older woman came and wanted to get on the horse I was planning on riding. Because we were a large group, my sister-in-law asked her to move because I had been planning on riding it. The woman was not happy and seemed to insist that she had kids she needed to ride as well (although they were in horses behind her). She and her kids ended up getting off of the rid and waiting for the next ride so that they could be together.
Next time I'll try to "claim" my horse better so that I don't make it hard for other people. And if I'm getting on later and most of the horses are taken, I can know to ask to get on the next ride.

Spin in a teacup and try not to get dizzy. You control the speed of the ride by turing the wheel in the center.
reviewed on: March 31 2012
I absolutely love spinning in the tea cups with my kids. When I rode with my little ones (3 and 5) they got to laughing so hard as we spun around and they could hardly keep their heads up. My 5 year old loved spinning the wheel. My favorite part was hearing the older kids tell me that they loved their ride too and were surprised at how fun it was.
Tip: try visiting this ride during a parade as the line will probably be shorter. The only down side is that the classic music of the ride will not be playing. But since it can be repetitively annoying anyway, it's worth not having to hear it!

Technically a "kiddie" ride, but soaring on a flying boat overlooking fantastic scenes from Peter Pan can be very enjoyable for adults too.

Update: Great tip to not wait in line:
Fantasyland gets closed down in the evening for the nightly fireworks. Depending on the schedule, it is reopened afterwards for rides. Ask a cast member where the best place to stand is in order to get on the rides once the fireworks are over. We were placed in a queue near the Mad Hatter store before the fireworks were scheduled to start. It was somewhat "secret" as it wasnt announced to everyone, but because we asked, we were given the front of the line Granted, we did wait for 20 minutes until the fireworks started, then we watched the show (minus the sound track) and then we waited another 10-15 minutes for security to "clear" the area from any potential falling debris. Then the cast member took our line through the long queue (which was quite fun to walk all the twists and turns) and we were the first on to Peter Pan. The line stretched behind us for a long distance, but I'm sure those people did not wait long. Then we went on Mr. Toads and Dumbo and only waited 10 minutes each.
This is probably the only "inside ride" in Fantasyland that my kids are not afraid of. The purpose is not to scare riders, but to simulate flight over the city of London and over Never Neverland. It's magical! I love looking down over the city and displays below. My kids like the feeling of floating through the night sky. This is an enjoyable ride!

Rack up points on this smooth ride through Buzz's battle with Zurg. Adults will enjoy the competition, while kids may just enjoy holding a phaser gun.
reviewed on: March 31 2012
"Super fun and great for all ages"
All ages will love this ride because riders get to hold a laser gun and shoot at targets located all throughout the turns and rooms. Little kids can easily get on and will not be startled by fast turns, speeds or dark and scary elements. My older kids and I loved the challenge of shooting at the targets and trying to rack up lots of points. I enjoyed it enough that I was willing to ride it 3 times with the younger kids while waiting for the older kids to ride Star Tours. At the end of the ride, you may have to wait in line to find your picture, but the fun of it is being able to email it to yourself for free.

Take a ride on a floating submarine and be delighted when your favorite fish from "Finding Nemo" swim by.
reviewed on: March 31 2012
All ages in our family (2-12) and the adults enjoyed this ride which is saying a lot. We went in the morning before noon on a busy day and only waited about 20 minutes. Filing into the boat and down the steep stairs is tricky with little ones, especially ones who want to do it themselves, but once down, its all good.
Each seat has a personal viewing area and all spots on the boat are great. I rode on the end one time and although I occasionally heard the character voices before I saw them, it didn't ruin the fun and I didn't miss anything. It's definitely a ride not-to-miss.

This large attraction, housed in a rotating building holds lots of futuristic and real technology of the future that you can interact with and play games with.

"Unique rotating building"
Just entering the building that houses Innoventions is an experience. The building rotates as a large circle set into a non moving circle. (It's in the old "Theater in the Round" building. You have to stand and listen to a presentation on the screen on the outside, but once you get inside, you can listen to the creative presentation (often interesting) or slip away to the back and check out everything inside.
My son and I escaped from the 100 degree heat of an August day into this really cool building. We played chess on a computer board, took a simulated drive in a car, and participated in a game show. You can literally spend hours in this building on it's 2 floors checking out gadgets, interactive displays and computer games. Things are always changing inside due to the presentation of the displays by various companies.
As a bonus for parents or nursing moms, there are modern living rooms designed to show the latest gadgets for your homes, which feature comfortable couches and chairs. I've seen many an exhausted parent enjoying some rest while their kids play a computer game. It's like coming home from Disneyland for a rest time!
