About Me & My Family

We are a family of 5. We love to travel and to see new things. We look for a educational experience in everything we do and my we do a lot. Our kids are so used to being on the go that they have tremendous stamina. We try to plan 2 large trips every year and supplement them with weekend get-aways, staycations and a day jaunt now and again. Our kids are always wondering what the next spot will be.

Worst Travel Moment With My Kids:
My youngest got sick with the stomach bug at 4 am in the morning 1 hour before our plane ride to get to St' John USVI. We had to make it through 2 plane legs, 1 long taxi ride, a ferry ride and a 45 minute rental car ride to our villa with her being sick!!!

Cutting Christmas Trees in Connecticut

Each year our family looks forward to our annual tree-cutting tradition. We go to a local farm, take a tractor ride to the Christmas tree forest, and saw down our not too big, not too small tree. We then enjoy some hot chocolate and head home to get  trimming. Families all over Connecticut enjoy this same type of tradition. This list provides names of Christmas tree farms all over Connecticut to have your own tradition. Be sure to call the farm you choose to make sure they are open and ready!!!

"Hayrides for pumpkins and trees"
We started going to Karabin Farms for our Christmas trees before we had children. It has become a fall and Christmas tradition. Over 15 years ago there was a small operation there for trees and pumpkins. Over the years it has grown into quite a family funspot. There are greenhouses, live animals to look at including barn kitties, goats, horses, pigs and Highland cattle. There is also a large giftshop with home decor, candy, and local cheeses and mixes. Outside is Grandma's snack barn with hot dogs, soups, popcorn and apple donuts. We go for the hayride up to the fields for our apples in the Fall, our pumpkin at Halloween and our tree in December. You can also buy them pre-picked/cut if you want to avoid the hayride, but why would you. The family is wonderful. They are all very helpful, as are their helpers. The kids would not think of getting their holiday needs anyplace else!
