"Lots of Fun!"
This place continues to grow.  It is a great time - it is pricey too but if your kids are old enough to really enjoy it it is totally worth it.  There are tons of different water slides, tubing "rivers", a wave pool, surf pool, kiddie pool, the list goes on and on.  There are also lots of places to stay nearby so you don't feel like you have to pack it all in on one visit.  I gave it 4 stars based on the price but regardless it's a fun place to visit.

With the mild temperatures in Texas there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of our State Parks year round. This is a great place to hike and camp. Fun for everyone!

"San Antonio Winter Day Trip"
San Antonio has a lot to offer as a winter day trip.  First there is the famous River Walk http://www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com/ that has holiday events from Thanksgiving through New Years.  Then there's the Alamo http://www.thealamo.org/main.html Head down to the Menger Hotel where Teddy Roosevelt rounded up his Rough Riders http://www.legendsofamerica.com/TX-MengerHotel.html and eat lunch or dinner at Mi Tierra (open 24 hours!) http://www.mitierracafe.com/

"Ice Skating Eisbahn"
Fun ice skating in Fredericksburg TX.  This skating rink is open from the day after Thanksgiving till January 3rd.  One of many holiday/winter activities in the Texas Hill Country.  Check the hours before you go since they are varied daily.  Great activity for the kids.  While you're in Fredericksburg head over to Rather Sweet Bakery for lunch or sweets.  We usually end up with just an assortment of sweets.  http://www.rathersweet.com/ This is Rebecca Rather's restaurant (cookbook author:  Pastry Queen, Pastry Queen Parties).  http://www.tex-fest.com/regional/fredericksburg.html Check this list for any Christmas lights or holiday festivals as well.
*Skate rental is included in the $10 admission fee

"Cut your own Christmas Tree at Evergreen Farms"
Evergreen Farms is a very easily accessible farm in Elgin TX where you get to choose and chop your own Christmas Trees.  We went for the first time this year and were amazed at the ease with which we got our tree. There were virtually no lines too.  The whole process was a snap, from riding in the trailer (like a big hayride without the hay) to the field, cutting the tree down (they provide saws) and getting it wrapped and home!  The kids loved it too.  The farm also has a snack bar and marshmallows for roasting. Oh - and goats and miniature donkeys to pet and feed.  Very fun!  Highly recommended activity.
