About Me & My Family

I'm a mostly SAHM who works 2 hours a day at my daughter's school & is the PTO President & Girl Scout Treasurer. We LOVE to travel! We've gone from freebies & cheap adventures, all the way to the most decadent...whatever we can afford at the time! We love to visit historical sites wherever we go & we use travel opportunities to teach our daughter about local history & culture. Our latest obsession is old school road tripping. We treasure the family bonding & wacky adventures that only this type of travel can provide!
Our Family's Travel Personality
adventurous, curious, pampered, structured, relaxed, simple, independent, energetic, spontaneous, easy_going, scheduled
We Just Got Back From
Epic Road Trip - Grand Canyon, AZ, UT, NM, Four Corners, Route 66
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Maui & Italy
A Place We'd Love To Visit
Greece, Russia, Prague
Favorite Vacation Memory
My daughter's 8th birthday...we spent a Girl's Only Weekend at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. This was the first year she agreed to go on the thrill rides & we ended up going on Tower of Terror, California Screamin' & Space Mountain over & over again. She screamed herself hoarse but had the biggest smile I'd ever seen.
Worst Travel Moment With My Kids:
My then 8-month old daughter had a MAJOR diaper blowout on a road trip between Madison, WI & Chicago, IL. It was THE mother of all blowouts! Thank goodness for the kindhearted employees at the truck stop who allowed us to use the showers & provided us with free soap & towels!

"Fun holiday event"
What's more fun that ice skating in 80-degree weather? It's the best of both worlds! Ice skating in Temecula is an annual seasonal event that runs from mid-December through the first week of January. The cost is $10 per hour of skating plus $2.50 skate rental. The ice is manufactured, but it's just as cold & wet if you fall on it! The rink can get crowded, so the best time to visit is mid-day during the week. Children under 8 must be accompanied by a skater 16 or older. The employees are very nice & willing to help you learn to skate. Bring a change of clothes if you plan on staying in Old Town afterwards. The heat makes the ice melt fast, so when you fall, you usually end up in a substantial puddle!

"Cheap & fun for younger ones"
We have been going here for years as a rainy day activity. The entry is reasonable at $4.50 per person. It's of those things that the kids like to do over & over, where the adults can tire of it quickly.

The museum is old, but still cute. There are lots of hands-on activities for the kids & seasonal activities like Winter Wonderland (snow in the parking lot) & Haunted Museum.  On the weekends, there are demonstrations & crafts.

The hours are a bit strange. They are closed on Mondays & there are 2-hour blocks of time that you can go on the other days with 30-minute blocks in between when they are closed. Be sure & check the website for specific hours.

"Awesome family tradition!"
We've been going to Breakfast With Santa for 5 years now. It's a full blown event & beats standing in line at the mall to pay $25 fo a picture of your kid on Santa's lap!

For a mere $7 per person, you get a 45-minute event filled with singing, crafts, food & a special visit with Santa & Mrs. Clause!

I admit, the breakfast is't prime. You get scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, Sunny D & coffee. It works, though. Get your coffee AS SOON AS YOU ARE SEATED - long lines accumulate here!

The event starts off with every child receiving a nicely stocked goody bag with Chistmas coloring books, crayons, stickers & a cute elf hat or reindeer ears. Once you are seated, servers will bring your food to you. An emcee gets everyone going by calling the kids on stage to sing a couple of Christmas songs. Midway through the event, Santa makes his grand entrance. He is a GREAT Santa, too.

Each table is taken up individually & each child is allowed to spend quality time with Santa. They sit on his lap & are given the time & attention required to request their presents. Bring you own camera! The helpers will take as many photos of your family with Santa as you desire. Your child leaves with a candy cane.

After breakfast, you go to another room to decorate sugar cookies with frosting & candies.

This is been a memorable experience that we look forward to every year! Tickets start selling online in September, so book early - they do sell out & walkins are not accepted! Be sure to wear holiday attire!
