We really like the Randall Museum. We have not visited it a lot but everytime we did, we certainly spend a nice time. They have interesting little exhibits and lots of activities that the kids can do.
Lovely place. Stop by when you are in San Francisco with your kids, you will not be disappointed.

The Yerba Buena Gardens holds my children all time favorite playground. And my least one! There are so many children running around that I am always afraid that one will get hurt. And that happened to the little one who got run over by an older kid. Other than that, between the ice skating place, the Zeum, the fountain, the free concerts that are held regularly on the lawn, and many things that I forget, it is a place to breathe and stop with the kids while visiting San Francisco.

"The little zoo that could"
We love the Oakland zoo and kept a membership for years. Now that my children are bigger, they have less interested in zoos but they younger, they definitely spent happy hours there. Do not start by their children zoo,it is so enjoyable that your children will not want to leave to explore the rest ofthe place. IT is small but it seems to be a very caring place for animals, they really seem to have much more space to roam than many zoos. They have rides just outside the zoo with a train ride that is a little bit cheesy, I have to say...

Join in costume for their scary science and frightful fun. They’ll explore the scientific and cultural phenomena behind Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, and a host of creeping, crawling, flapping, and otherwise fascinating creatures.
If you dare, step inside the Neverwas Haul (a haunted Victorian house on wheels), and tiptoe through our Cemetery of Dead Science. Meet a menacing menagerie of spiders, insects, bats, leeches, black cats, and gape at the macabre minutia of magnified creatures and objects. You may discover a room drained of color, see spine-tingling films, or witness mad scientists concoct ghastly experiments. Local artist Irma Ortiz will shape exquisite skulls from molten sugar and invite you to decorate a sugar skull of your own.

"My daughters spent so much time there"
My two daughters are big girls now but when they were toddlers, they spent hours playing at Habitot, going from one activity to the other and having tons of fun. They had regularly free events that were very entertaining. I avoided going there on rainy days as it was packed.

What a nice place to visit! I did not know who was the happiest, the parents or the children. It is fascinating to see how the candies are made and how long it takes to make one. Do not go on a week-end, the machines are stopped and you will miss all the fun.

I can not understand how it took me 10 years to bring my children there. It is a very fun place where children get to experiment with videos, clay animation, recording studios, sliding on a green slide and seeing themselves on a screeen sliding on fire (my 6 years old spent half of her morning going up and down that slide).

Our family really likes the Chabot Space and Science Center. It is informative, the planetarium show was good and on Friday and Saturdays, you can peek at the sky trough their telescope. However, if you want only to do the telescope, there is no charge. I believe you need to drive by the side of the museum and enter there.

Tickets are $20 adults, $10 children up to age 17; $25 at the gangplank. Proceeds benefit preservation of the historic aircraft carrier.

Our family really enjoys visiting this kind of 'attractions': they have a life, a history and it is a very enjoyable way to teach our kids about history and for us to learn new things. They offer lots of special events during the year and you can even sleepover on the ship. The ship is supposedly haunted so that really creeped my kids...

"My throat is still sore from the screaming"
We visited the Wolcott's Haunted Graveyard this evening and at night, my throat is still sore from the screaming. The place is not huge (it is the length of a home) but we managed to stay for an hour and we had to force the children to leave. The front yard is transformed into a graveyard, the whole facade is redecorated as a saloon and you get to visit a very scary room. Before getting to the room, you have to make your way through a hallway.... I will not say more, I do not want to spoil the fun or the scare. My daughters and I screamed a lot and the little one, who is 8, and hates haunted house, kept asking for more!
