About Me & My Family

Three little girls run amuck in this house, so there are days when we just HAVE to get out and get going somewhere. We love zoos, parks, beaches, and traveling around to visit friends and family. We enjoy finding awesome deals for places that are kid friendly. Taking our three girls with us as we travel around the country is by far our most favorite thing to do.

A Place We'd Love To Visit
Vancouver
Favorite Vacation Memory
After a long day of sledding and climbing through the hills in Lake Tahoe, our family sat in front of the fireplace in our hotel and roasted marshmallows. The soft glow on my girl's faces, mixed with their hazy, tired eyes made the warmth of the fire mean so much more.
Worst Travel Moment With My Kids:
Not realizing how crowded the city bus would be with my girls in San Francisco!! We had to make 4 connections and fold and collapse the stroller at each stop. It was back-breaking, frustrating and a LONG DAY!

Where are the Disneyland Characters???

Do your kids want to meet all their favorite Disney characters??  Wonder where they are located in the park?? Check here.  (also, at the end of Main Street is an information booth with ride times throughout the park- they have ALL the pertinent information about what characters will be where at what time- ask them, they are super helpful!)

The characters are also plentiful at parades and the numerous character dining experiences (but that's another list!)

Be sure to bring (or buy) a notebook & felt tip pen to begin your autograph collection.

As mentioned below, there are even apps now that help you find the characters!!  Check it out: http://www.trekaroo.com/traveltips/tip/disney-vacation-resources-iphone-and-android-mobile-apps

Mickey is ALWAYS through his house, through his "backyard" and in his "movie set". Check hours in map as toontown has a different opening and closing time due to the fireworks.

"Long wait to a magical Mickey experience"
The layout of this attraction might be a little confusing.  Even if you don't see a lot of people in Mickey's house, a line will begin to form in his "backyard" as you wait to meet Mickey.  I have left this line a few times because my kids just didn't want to wait any longer, even though they do play cartoons in the room closest to Mickey.  The reason for this wait is the awesome interactive time you get with Mickey.  Each group gets their own time with the mouse himself to take as many pics and give as many hugs as your heart desires.  These pictures are some of my favorites and I recommend waiting for this magical time!

Minnie typically stands in front of her house to meet guests. You will not find her inside (like Mickey's house). You can ask a cast member nearby the next time she will be in front of her house. You can also find the original Disney characters, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Chip & Dale, and even Roger Rabbit hanging around in Toon Town. Ask a cast member for the next times and locations specifically within the land.

"My favorite Toon Town spot"
This is my favorite spot in Toon Town because everything is so interactive.  Kids can play with all the toys and gadgets in Minnie's house and it might be hard to get your little one away from here.
Minnie is often found at her house, usually on the front porch before you enter the house.  If she isn't there, don't go inside to look for her like you do Mickey.

The Disney Princess are ALWAYS here (check map as hours may differ from park hours). If you wait in line, your little one will meet at least three princesses (they change frequently). You can ask a cast member for assistance on who is coming next if you are looking for a particular princess. The Fantasy Faire show also features numerous princesses, although the kids do not get to meet them after.

"Mostly fun for girls"
If your little princess dreams of meeting her favorite Disney princess, this is the spot for you.
You will wait in a fairly long line, but then you will be handsomely rewarded with one on one time with three princesses for pictures, chats and hugs!  It is truly magical to see their faces light up!
If you plan it right, hit the "show" before or after you meet the princesses.  They will teach your little one a dance and other fun activities.  It is a very special Disney experience.

If Big Thunder Ranch is open, you will find Woody & Jessie inside; if it is not, be sure to look for them on the walk between the ranch and Big Thunder Mountain.

Tiana and Prince Naveen rotate performances in New Orleans Square, right in front of the French Market Restaurant toward the water. If you are wondering when she will make her next appearance (and autograph signing), ask a nearby cast member.

Pooh, Eyore, Tigger & the gang hang out in rotation near the exit of Winnie the Pooh. If you are wondering if you have passed them, keep walking!! They are at the end of the road.

"Amazing colors! Kids will love!!"
This ride can intrigue even the youngest of park visitors as the colors are so bold and vibrant.  It is nice and cool inside and offers a heat relief and foot rest for weary walkers!
The line is typically fairly short and offers a fantastic alternative to Splash Mountain for kids not old enough to brave or ride the big water ride next door.
*Disneyland history:  This ride occupies the space of the old "Country Bear Jamboree".  When you enter Pooh's "birthday room", look behind you to see some of the bears still on the wall! :)

Tink & friends (usually two characters per session) are always at Pixie Hollow during operating hours. The lines can get long (and hot!) so try to avoid peak sunshine times when waiting.

"Pixie fans must visit"
I have only visited Tink once when it was raining and there was hardly anyone in the park.  Every other time the line is so long that I can hardly bear it!
If your little one is a huge Tinkerbell fan, I suggest visiting in the morning or late afternoon when it is not so hot as most of the line is right in the sun.

Just outside the exit of the Jungle Cruise is a middle-eastern looking building that used to be a show. Although the space currently is not being used, you can often find Aladdin and Jasmine standing here signing autographs.

"Classic Disney must ride!!"
The jungle cruise is one of the original Disneyland rides that opened in 1955.  The ride takes guests on a jungle safari cruise through deep thick greenery and lush tropical foliage.  Your boat captain entertains the adults with jokes and sarcasm that goes completely over the little one's heads, and the kids are entertained looking at the moving animals throughout the ride.  The animatromics on the animals are a bit dated, but my kids are often fooled by their realism.
Very small little ones might be afraid of some of the animals that pop out of the water like the crocodiles and the piranhas that spray water.  A keen parental eye can see these coming and let kids know in advance before they jump.  The captain also shoots his pop gun off a few times during the ride and it might make your little baby cry, so again, be prepared.
We always ride the Jungle Cruise because the line is usually very short (and moves quickly), the shaded lush greenery and cool water provides a heat relief, and I enjoy riding a ride with such long history.

Sure enough, you can sometimes find Tarzan at the top of his treehouse!! It is rare, but I have seen him with my own eyes!! :)

"Take a line break & enjoy the treehouse"
My kids love climbing up this tree house & so do I!
There is rarely if ever a line to enjoy this attraction as it is a walk-through activity.  The kids get lots of energy out climbing the steps and really enjoy all of the hands on activities.  There is usually a character at the top for a photo opportunity too!
If lines are long in the park and it is overwhelming, stop in here to get a quick break from waiting in lines everywhere else.
*Note, the attraction is not wheelchair accessible due to the nature of climbing up into the tree.  Also, small kids might have a problem with the many stairs and might need to be carried.

TONS of characters are often seen inside Fantasyland at varying times and for varying purposes. The characters from Pinocchio, Peter Pan & Alice in Wonderland are often in and around Fantasyland playing games (and eventually signing autographs) for special youngsters who find them. Ask a castmember for more information.

"Magical!!"
There is something magical that happens when I am on a carousel with my kids.  I get sentimental and snap 100 pics and videos.  I probably have more pictures of my kids on carousels than should be allowed!
This carousel is no exception and the cleanliness and streamlined efficiency of Disney makes this carousel stand out even more.
Short lines in the middle of a line crazy Fantasyland make this a perfect ride!!
