"Stuff 'em or Stack 'em"
This is a great family pitstop to fuel up before hitting the slopes in the winter or the bike path in the summer. They serve thin pancakes that are much like a crepe, but they do have the old fashioned thick buttermilk style too. If you can imagine a pancake served or stuffed with any combination of items it is most likely on their menu! Kids can get them with chocolate chips or sprinkles on top and adults can try having their bacon, egg and cheese baked right in.

There is a dining room but we ate on the beautiful enclosed porch with the windows wide open letting in the warm spring air. The staff was very accommodating with our crew of 11 people (4 kids: ages 1-11). FYI, there is no changing table though and the bathrooms are rather small.

"Mama Mia!"
After being voted onto T&L's top Pizza list, I just had to go and taste it for myself. After all as a Mom, I have had quite a bit pizza --it is a prerequisite on the kid food chain of dinning. Well I have to say it lives up to its honor. The best I have had in Northern VT. The choices are diverse. I got a delicious BBQ Veggie. The contrast between spicy sauce and sweet pineapple was outstanding. You don't just have to get pizza. On the kids menu there are chicken tenders, hamburgers, spaghetti and such.

But my accolades don't stop there. Ideally set up for kids or large parties, there are 2 big booths in the back of the main room. There are plenty of high chairs. There is a kids menu and kids drinks are served in to-go cups with lids and straws. I like that they are part of the Vermont Fresh Network, therefore using a lot of local products that always makes things taste especially good plus support our neighbors. And they even have gluten-free crusts! ($9)

Another nice plus is the game room/lounge located in the front room by the bar area. It has 2 NASCAR style racing games, one shoot 'em and one other. There are also couches. On the downside you can't see this room from any of the dinning room tables.

"Holy Guacamole!"
Frida's wholeheartedly accepted our party of 14, 6 of which were kids ages 8 months - 11 years old. Not to mention it was President's day and the place was hoppin'. They have highchairs and booster seats, a kids menu and serve drinks in kid cups with lids and straws. Bummer that the bathroom doesn't have a changing table. I'd like to say you could wheel your stroller in there and use that because there certainly is room, but you'd have to make through the crowded bar area first with that stroller.

The food is awesome. The kids were eating off the regular menu too. The babies were munching on black, re-fried and pinto beans. Plus when they made the guacamole table-side the server was happy to accommodate our request for a scoop or two of plain avocado for the toddlers.

If you do take-out from here, be forewarned that they automatically add on a 10% gratuity.

"A Stand Out"
Just a short walk down the road from the main lodge you can have lunch at the DeliBakery—a hidden gem for local Vermonters and a must do for hotel guests.  We will certainly be bringing our out of town friends here for lunch and to enjoy the outstanding view of Stowe—or even to pick up food before a Mozart Fest concert in their meadow.

Lunch choices consist of soups like corn chowder or cheddar ale, various salads and sandwiches such as turkey, bacon, cheddar on cranberry focaccia  or an Austrian meat combo with kraut on pumpernickel.  The real stand out here though is the desserts.  One look at the cupcakes and my daughter was pretty much done.  Located just below the Deli is the new Trapp Lodge Brewery, which is opening mid-April 2010.

"Step Back in Time"
An old fashioned malt shop with 1950s ambiance. Burgers, fries, milkshakes, ice cream sundaes and more. A great place to go with kids. Sit at the Luncheonette counter and watch them make your frappe. There is a side patio in the garden with tables and swing for outdoor seating in the summer months.
