"Kids just eat this up!"
Holy playgroup heaven! I was there today without my kids, just to meet someone for lunch (she had her 1 year old with her) and during the time we were there numerous Moms/Dads kept coming and going to grab a bite to eat and take advantage of the wonderful set up they have for kids.

Nestled in the far corner there is a cute play area complete with a wooden kitchen, rocking horse and comfy chair perfect for reading a story or nursing. This place is completely kid friendly. You can park your stroller outside on the porch (or your pooch - I spied a dog bed just waiting for a doggie to lie down on it) or bring it in, there is plenty of room. The bathroom has a changing table and a step-stool making it easy for little ones to reach what they need to.

The food was delicious too. Lots of options for kids of all ages made with local ingredients. The location is key as well, a perfect pit-stop after story-time, a music class in town or a visit to Shelburne Museum or Shelburne Farms.

"Off the Charts Family Friendly!"
This place hits it outta the park on my family friendly scale! Where to begin? The menu has more than something for everyone. There is a kids menu (noodles & cheese, hot dog, lil burger, fruit, etc..), but we didn't even order off of it because there were so many other great choices. Breakfast is served til 3pm so you are pretty much covered cause what kid doesn't like breakfast? And oh yeah, they do the local thing like a good Vermont restaurant should ;-)

Then there is the huge playground adjacent to the place with picnic table and outdoor seating. They also do "cartoon lunch" on Fridays where they play old fashioned cartoons on the wall in the lounge (think Donald and Mickey) and the kids can play with the toys that are there and parents can chat and order up some chow.

Thursday mornings during the school year there is a playgroup that meets there too from 9-11.

Then there is the movie house of course. Not your plain old movie house though. Some regular seating, but up front there are some couches and then plenty of space for your little ones to play around. No need to sit still. Nice.

Yeah, we will be back. Did I mention they serve beer in the movie theater? (shhhhh)

"Hidden Treasure"
This hidden treasure is worth seeking out if you are environmentally conscious and care about feeding your kids great tasting local, organic food! As part of the Vermont’s Fresh Network and a certified member of the Green Restaurant Association, Magnolia is dedicated to keeping it fresh and clean. It’s in an old historic building so, you are going to have to leave your stroller in the building’s main lobby; this restaurant is down a flight of stairs. There are no changing tables in the bathrooms, also down another small flight of stairs. There are a few large booths and tables tucked into nooks and crannies so no worries about bringing your noisy flock here, you will blend in with the crowd especially on a Saturday or Sunday when it can be particularly busy (call ahead to see about the wait time).

"Restaurant w/a Side Order of Airplane"
Maybe you are a member of Basin Harbor Club, maybe you aren't. But luckily you don’t have to be a member to eat here. On a warm summer night this spot is definitely worth making the trip for as it is a bit off the beaten path. If you are looking for dinner with a side order of playground and an airstrip to boot, this is your place! Did I mention the small prop planes taking off regularly throughout your meal?! I am not even sure my kids came inside for their dinner. Cool factor = 1000%! Yes, at the playground there are picnic tables so they could eat in between playing and watching all the excitement. And don't worry mom and dad, there are big windows in the dinning room. You can keep an eye on them while they are outside and actually relax and enjoy your meal for once!

"Breakfast, Lunch & Playground rolled into one!"
You know how you always want to be able to get a bagel, a snack, a drink, anything for your hungry kids (and you) but not have to leave the playground? Well now you can! The also have their own sandbox on the right side of the balcony when you are enjoying outdoor dining. This great little bakery cafe is located right next to the playground in Richmond Town Park. They serve wholesome treats from their wood fired oven and on-site garden. Oh yeah, and don't miss grabbing a few of the delicious mini cinnamon buns for the car ride home!...
