Spooky festivals & attractions for kids in South. California

October is such a fun month! Festivals and events are happening every week-end all around the state culminating with a big Day on the last day of the month.

Make sure that the events you are going to are suitable for your children. Some children are more sensitive than others so it is not really a matter of age but rather how easily they can get scared.

"Great Fun"
We took our kids twice and my parents (retired and French) once. It became one of my parents favorite tourist spot!. We had great fun and saw everything in one day. My children liked it better than Disneyland and we felt like kids while visiting the movie sets with the train.

For the younger crowd, Snoopy's costume party during the day is the place to go. The Haunt is the place to go for children over 13 during the day: very scary.

If you have older children, put them in a scary mood and sign up for Michael's brown Ghost tour of Old town. Did you know that the place used to hold a cemetery? You will never see Old Town with the same eyes again. His tours are held every Thursday through Sunday in October. Meet at 9 pm in front of the Fiesta de Reyes Fountain (adults are $19 and children 6-12 are $10). More info on www.oldtownsmosthaunted.com If you like story telling, come to old town on Oct 28 at 6:30 pm and on Oct 31 at 8 pm to listen to the Legend of Sleeping Hollow. There will also be some candy distribution all over old town on Oct 30 and 31 from 4 pm to 6:30 pm. Do you like spooky movie night? Come to the Fiesta de Reyes courtyard with a blanket and a chair and enjoy a movie. Oct 29 and 30 at 8 pm.
