Splash Pads on the FL/AL Gulf Coast

The Gulf Coast offers miles of beautiful white beaches; however, when we want to avoid the sand but still be able to cool off, I take the kids to one of these many splash pads!

We love this splash fountain. The water dances up in the air, it is situated near a play space, and there are lots of other family friendly things to do in this shopping center!

If you hit this splash pad on Thursday nights through the summer and into the month of September, you will get to meet a fun character and listen to one of many great bands.

"Splash pad in the summertime"
Plaza de Luna is located at the southern end of Palafox Street.  Parking is nearby and free.  There is a small splash pad that is the perfect place for the kids to cool off during the hot days.  There are always people fishing off the different sections of the plaza so you if you are lucky you might get to watch someone reel in their catch.  There is a sidewalk that runs the length of the pier that you can wander along, watch the birds, or sit and watch the sunset.  There is a small concession stand open at various times that has fantastic po' boys, ice cream and sodas.

Next door to the Butterfly House is a splash pad and great playground. Make a day of it and hit all three places.

"Call before you go"
Call before you go to make sure that they are open as I think they were were only open Thursday to Sunday and don't open until April this year.  We spent a few minutes inside because my son was more interested in the big park and water feature outside. Bring their swimsuit or a change of clothes because they will not be able to resist running through the water!

"Bring the swimsuits or a change of clothes!"
When it is warm outside we love to take the kids to this shopping center.  They have a water feature in the middle of the outdoor center where the kids can run around and get soaking wet.  You will see lots of toddlers and young children running around in their swimsuits!  This part of the center is perfect for ages 1-7.  There are benches and chairs surrounding the water feature so parents can relax while their kids play.  The shopping is great for tweens and teens because there are plenty of stores right up their alley!  Don't forget to stop for a cookie at American Cookie or ice cream at Marble Slab before you leave!

After a long day of shopping, the splash pad will entertain the kids while you rest.

Frank Brown Park is not just a splash area, but you will also find a playground, walking trails and sports fields. You could spend the whole day here!
