About Me & My Family

We are a family of 5. We love to travel and to see new things. We look for a educational experience in everything we do and my we do a lot. Our kids are so used to being on the go that they have tremendous stamina. We try to plan 2 large trips every year and supplement them with weekend get-aways, staycations and a day jaunt now and again. Our kids are always wondering what the next spot will be.

Worst Travel Moment With My Kids:
Two of my kids got lost at a campground in Yellowstone. My 9 year old son took his 6 year old sister on a walk to the restroom 4 sites down and couldn't find their way back. We ended up reporting them missing at the camp check in and then the search began. I was afraid of them being abducted, but also of the Grizzlies which were out in full force that summer due to the late melt. It was the worst 45 minutes of our lives. A fellow camper overheard my husband relay the story to the camp personnel and she recognized them as she returned to her site 7 loops away from ours. The ranger was called and returned them safely to us. The employees were great and it was a happy ending to a potential disaster.

"Annual pass holders"
We love to go to lake Compounce and consider ourselves lucky to have it so close to home. There are rides for all ages, including a great kiddie land area. There are a lso 3 great coasters including a loop and a mountain side fast coaster. Our kids love the coasters (8 year olds) but also the ghost hunt ride, log flume and water park. It never gets overly crowded here like some of the big parks (admittedly we might go at off times so this may not always be the case.....but I feel we and the park are creating some great childhood memories for our kids here!!!!

"Old fashioned Family Fun"
This park is a throw back to older non gargantuan theme parks. We live close by so this is an easy day trip diversion for us. The kids like to go on the rides, but also enjoy the small water park area, beach and paddle boat rides. This park in one I went to as a kid and not much has really changed in the last 40 years, but it is a neat, clean day trip diversion.

This one is for Mom alone. The Mayflower Spa is an idyllic location for relaxation. Just the relaxation room is enough for me without treatments!. This is an elite spa and consistently named in the top 10 in the nation. Worth the splurge if you can afford it for Mom this year!

Mom can spend some quality alone time here at the Long Island Sound at the Waters Edge. Maybe take her for brunch and let her stay for the regal treatment!

The Mark Twain house presents a special story telling event on 5/12/13 at 2pm. NPR personality Chion Wolf will present and moderate the stories being told on mothers and motherhood. The event is free and better suited for an older audience.
