We are a busy family with 3 kids and we don't sit still. When we aren't running off to scouts, dance, sports, etc., we really enjoy spending time as a family. If we have a day we will try to find someplace local to explore. If we have a weekend we go a little further. Give us a week and we can really pack it in. We are always on the lookout for family friendly destinations (especially hotels which seem so hard to find!). Our vacations are not spent floating in the pool...they are spent exploring the area to its fullest!

My daughter is such a pip and thinks the hotel is the destination. If we do sightseeing along the way she just keeps asking "when are we going to get to the hotel?" She loves checking out our new "home away from home" and she LOVES the fact that she gets to share a room with someone!!

"Take me out to the ball game!"
The Lakewood Blue Claws baseball games are a great family outing. The stadium is small and family friendly and has both reserved seating as well as "sod squad" seating which is the grassy areas located beyond the outfield. This is the perfect place to sit with squirmy kids who don't want to sit in a seat and watch an entire baseball game. Just be sure to bring a blanket to sit on, chairs aren't allowed. On a budget? Kids under 5 can enter free (must sit on lap or in sod squad) and on Sunday and Monday KIDS EAT FREE! What could be better than that?
When the kids get tired of watching the game they can get their faces painted (for free!) if they don't mind waiting in a long line. They can also blow off steam in Pinchy's Playground. The playground equipment is free or they can enjoy some bounce type activities for a small fee. On Character Sundays kids can meet their favorite characters walking around the stadium.
On Friday nights after the games you can enjoy fireworks which are among the best fireworks displays I have ever seen. They frequently have special promotions in which fans receive free promo items upon arrival and they have great nights like College Night where recruiters are on hand.
They do fundraisers, birthday parties, picnics and fun events like Scout Nights. My children have enjoyed scout night like no other. Scouts participate in a parade on the field before the game and after the game get to set up their tents in the outfield and sleep over. They feature a baseball themed movie on the jumbo-tron while we are curled up in our tents. A fabulous night!
We have enjoyed this stadium for years and look forward to enjoying it for many more to come.
