About Me & My Family

We are a busy family with 3 kids and we don't sit still. When we aren't running off to scouts, dance, sports, etc., we really enjoy spending time as a family. If we have a day we will try to find someplace local to explore. If we have a weekend we go a little further. Give us a week and we can really pack it in. We are always on the lookout for family friendly destinations (especially hotels which seem so hard to find!). Our vacations are not spent floating in the pool...they are spent exploring the area to its fullest!

My daughter is such a pip and thinks the hotel is the destination. If we do sightseeing along the way she just keeps asking "when are we going to get to the hotel?" She loves checking out our new "home away from home" and she LOVES the fact that she gets to share a room with someone!!

"Fun Way to Cool off on a hot summer day"
This is a fun water park that features several attractions.   My kids love the big water slides.  The lazy river is always a big hit as well.  There is a big pool area too for those who may want to swim or splash around in the water.

My 7 year old daughters favorite part is the multi level "jungle gym" as my kids call it.  It is a large water feature with several slides, a large bucket that fills and dumps water, sprays and more.  This is a great area for anyone in your group but is especially wonderful for the non-dare devil who may not like the big slides.

There is also a small splash area for the tiniest of tots.  The lifeguards keep the bigger kids out of this area so the little ones can have a fun and safe place to play all of their own.

The lifeguards are plentiful and attentive.  They are also rotated frequently so there are constantly fresh eyes on your brood.

There are life vest available for non swimmers.  There are height restrictions on all of the attractions.  The larger slides have a higher height requirement.  You can check the requirements out online before you go if you have any doubts about your little ones.

Eat before you go or be prepared to shell out big bucks for your snacks and meals.  They have burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, pizza...your usual fast food fare.  They are starting a new waitress service at the seats by the kiddie area as well.

Check out their twilight admission, theme days, family fun packages and ride and slide combo's to save money on admission prices.

"Beach Baby"
Experience the beach and surrounding area of the barrier island as it should be.  This beach and park are unspoiled by the surrounding populated areas and is truely a gem.  If you are looking for me and the kids this summer, try checking the beaches here.

The main attraction of this park is the beaches.  There are designated swimming areas that are guarded by life guards.  (You frequently will get to watch the lifeguards running training drills which is fun)  These designated  areas also have bathhouses with bathrooms and changing areas.   Concession areas are located in the pavillion if you don't feel like packing a lunch or want to treat the kids to an ice cream.

Many other beaches in the area don't allow you to bring coolers on the beach but here you can pack your cooler with your lunch, drinks and snacks and bring it along.  You can also use boogie boards on most of the beach areas.  If you go when it isn't too crowded, you can hang out at the back of the beach and fly a kite, toss a frisbee, kick a ball around, etc.

On the way out there are outdoor shower spickets to help you rinse off the sand before climbing back into the car.

There is a whole lot more to explore here besides the beaches though.  There are interpretive programs offered throughout the year.  There are trails throughout the park which allow you to explore the unique ecosystem of the barrier island.  All of the trails are under a mile and if you keep your eyes open you will spot various birds, fox and other wild life.

Fisherman love these beaches for surf fishing.  If you go to the end of the park you are allowed to drive your 4 wheel drive vehicle onto the beach with a permit.

Take note that on weekends and holidays the park becomes quite crowded.  Once all of the parking spots are full they deem the park full and close it to admission.
