Free and fun in San Francisco

It is nice not to have to pay all the time!

"The little museum that could."
It is small, noisy, but fascinating. You get to observe how cable cars work, the mechanics are quite simple actually but it is fascinating to look at these cables going on and on and on. Do not miss the downstairs room.
It is free and fun and an easy stop on your way to the Coit Tower or Fisherman's Wharf.

"A hidden treasure"
I just love the Wells Fargo Museum. It is located in the financial district and is only open on week-days. Kids get to see a real stagecoach, learn about gold, solve a mystery, and upstairs they get to ride in a mock-up stagecoach. Tell the kids to ask for the questionnaire, if they answer all the questions while visiting the museum, they will get a small prize. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the bank, the transportation of money and  people, and it is a great tribute to the wild west. Children and grow-ups will have a great time.

"A tourist trap but a nice one"
There are so many things to do at the Fisherman's wharf between listening to the Sea Lions, discover Pier 30, take a ferry to Alcatraz or another city on the Bay, museums, aquarium, food, etc etc. And street performers of course...Of course it is a tourist trap but it is a nice one where you will not discover the real San Francisco for sure but your family will have a good time!

"So many things to do"
It will be difficult for families to not find something they like to do at the Golden Gate Park. Art, floral, and science museums, Japanese Tea Garden,  buffalos, lake, flowers, playgrounds, concerts, etc etc, name it, the Park has it. On Sundays, some parts of the park are closed to cars so you can ride your bike or roller blade safely.

Presidio
San Francisco, California

"Nice but know where to go before you go"
I am not an expert on the Presido so when we went there on a day when we did not really knwo what to do. We headed directly to the visitor center and they gave us a couple of trails to head with the kids with a map and a sort of a scavenger hunt. That was very pleasant and we all loved it!
this is also the location of the Disney Museum: a great place for parents and children above 8. Do not go there with children under 8, they will loose interest quickly.
